I have been selling on eBay for several years. Very time consuming and there are other things I should be doing, but I love it!
I have had a passion for books since childhood and my first job was in the book world. Hence I built up a large collection of children’s books that I have been adding to over the years and then I started collecting non-fiction titles too. Alas, there’s just not enough room to store them all now and I've found I have duplicates, triplicates, hence why I have become a seller on eBay.

Now to the nitty gritty:
I believe in good communication. Due to the various methods of payment accepted, PLEASE await my Winning Bidder Notification/Invoice, which will give bank account details etc. I will then let you know when payment has been received/cleared and your item has been despatched.
TERMS & CONDITIONS
Not too many - and most are fairly obvious!
Please pay by one of the methods shown within 7 days of auction end. If I have received no communication from you by day 4, a reminder invoice will be sent. If still no payment by day 7-10, an Unpaid Item Dispute will be opened as an "official reminder". Non payment will result in a 'strike' on your account.
Items are posted promptly - within 48 hours of payment clearing - if not sooner! However, I am unable to post at weekends nor on Public Holidays.
I obtain Proof of Postage for all items up to the value of £36.00. In the event that an item gets lost, I will process a claim through Royal Mail when time allows - for UK items that is 15 working days after due date of delivery; for overseas items, 25 days. Please also check with your local sorting office as it's not unknown for the postie not to leave a card! If an item is damaged, please return to me for checking and I will refund in full (including the cost to return). I would be grateful if you could retain the packaging in case R.M. want to see it as part of the claims process.
If you require a different method of postage than that listed, please contact me re. costs before bidding. I am more than happy to send by a signed for service e.g. Recorded or Special Delivery (UK); Airsure/International Signed For (overseas). However, I am unwilling to post by Surface Mail if payment is made via PayPal, due to the time it takes and previous bad experiences!
If an item sells above GBP 36.00 it will be sent by a signed-for/insured method.
I offer combined postage, where feasible, on items purchased within 5-7 days. However, I am unable to give a discount on item price for multiple purchases.
Please remember that P&P is not just the cost of the stamp. I use new bubble wrap and/or jiffy bags and recycled cardboard where necessary. Unfortunately, I don't have the
room for storage, so I am unable to buy packaging in bulk at a discounted rate, hence the costs mount up! Like the majority of sellers, I also need to take into account cost of labels, cellotape, brown tape, printer ink, paper, and getting to the P.O. hence the 'handling' element. All the book covers are cleaned before despatch (apart from those where the colour might be affected!). I pride myself on my packaging and as you will see from my feedback, I have received much praise for it as well as for my speed of despatch!
Feedback will be left once I have heard from you that the item has arrived and you are happy with it - either via email or through feedback.
Finally, I believe in good communication and I will keep you informed at all stage of the transaction. I would therefore appreciate it if you could reciprocate by contacting me direct with any queries, problems or comments.
PAYMENT
UK BUYERS
The sooner I receive your payment, the sooner you will receive your item!
Bank Transfer - My preferred method of payment. Via on-line/telephone banking or at any branch of HSBC. It’s quick, safe, easy and FREE. In fact, if you pay by this method I will give a 25p discount per invoice. (Please deduct the 25p from invoice total. But don't panic, if you forget to deduct, I will include your 'change' with the item!) A BT can be set up just as quickly as paying via PayPal! If you copy and paste your on-line ‘confirmation of payment’ to me, I will be able to post your item even sooner! Bank details will be included on Winning Buyer Notification/Invoice. Clearance is quicker than a cheque and it also saves the cost of purchasing a Postal Order and the cost of the stamp/envelope to send!
Although paying via any other method than PayPal gives you no financial protection through eBay, and I wouldn't recommend it for high value/risk items, I see no problem using this method with established sellers with good feedback/history.
Cheque - Payment address will be shown on invoice/Winning Bidder Notificaton. Item will be posted once cheque has cleared.
Postal Order
- If you choose this method, please remember to cross it and make it out in my name. Please keep the receipt in case it should get lost in the post and needs to be cancelled. Clearance time will be the same as for cheques.
PayPal - My least favourite! Why? In a nutshell, because I don't like paying the fees (particularly as my items are low value), where there are free and equally convenient alternatives available. Payments funded with an eCheque will take up to 14 days to clear and will result in a delay in posting your item.
OVERSEAS BUYERS
International Bank/Wire Transfer - My preferred method of payment from the Eurozone. If you pay by this method I offer a 25p discount per invoice, which you can deduct from the total. Please pay in Euros and select ‘share charges’. If you would like to know the total in Euros, please contact me. The exchange rate will be taken from: www.xe.com. Clearance will be 3-4 days, though if you can copy and paste your ‘confirmation of payment’ to me, I will be able to post your item even sooner!
PayPal - Payments funded with an eCheque will take up to 14 days to clear and will result in a delay in posting your item.
Money Order - I don’t mind receiving them, but I’m afraid there will be an additional charge of GBP 1.40 for processing. Processing will take 5-7 days.
