Since I can remember I've had a passion for Cast Iron and great engineering feats of the past, it is something about the simple elegance of things made from this most wonderful of materials, a material in large responsible for our modern life, where would we be if Abraham Derby had not decided to make cast iron pots in his foundry at Coalbrookdale, Shropshire in 1715? And thus lighting the flames to the great industrial revolution.
With these thoughts in mind, I took up a career in the demolition industry, which was booming in the mid eighties. As the demise of our industrial heritage reached its peak, with great swaths of the former heartlands of enterprise being ripped out of our country, my passion for saving and restoring what I could began. For the next two decades I had the pleasure of working as an Architectural Salvage Expert for one of the premier reclamation yards in the country. Due to fate and ill health I had to give up the job I had loved so much. I now roam the country when my more sedate and mundane job allows, still carrying on my quest to save what I can and decided to use my years of expertise in bringing select items back into use by restoring them and offering these wonderful antiquities on eBay. I will gladly offer my advice and knowledge to anyone who is refurbishing period properties, please fill free to contact me should you require it.
