I have been collecting music for as long as I can remember. When I was 4 or 5, my uncle got me a personalized 45 of Zoom singing The Birthday Song (My name is Zoom, and I live on the moon...) I was obsessed with that song and another 45 he gave me that had Babysitting Boogie and Popcorn by Hot Butter as a b-side. From there, cassette tapes were my new best friend. I had to have everything I liked. When cds were new, I became obsessed with the packaging - the big cardboard casing that cds first came in - everything about having this wonderful music in my hands was so enchanting.
I have now worked in various record stores and in the music industry for 10 years. I obsessively collect cds, cd singles, 7" and LPs of my favorite bands (Muse, Travis, Editors, The Libertines, Coldplay, etc). But because of the nature of my work, I no longer have space for the amount of cds I have amassed over the years. I have recently converted my collection to mp3 format and am slowly letting go of my 'babies' ... I hope you cherish them as much as I have!
