The eBay Song: To all our competitors out there still trading on eBay, we just have one thing to say to you all now, you know the song: "Where's your profits gone? Where's your profits gone? They've gone to eCon, eCon!" - eCon, the new name for eBay, ripping off sellers since 2006

To all our loyal customers,

Unfortunately, due to eBay's extortionate fee structure, we have had to cease trading on eBay. Even on eBay's 7% Final Value Fee, amongst other ridiculous highly priced fees eBay charges for extras, we saw approximately 90% of our profit margin wiped out.

As from Monday, September 1, 2008, eBay are changing their fee structure yet again, raising their Final Value Fee from 7% to 9% which will see 99%-100% of our profit margin wiped out on all items. It is no longer financially viable to trade on eBay with such extortionate fees. There is just no point in trading and selling at a loss.

We can not in any way re-invest in the business, investing in a higher volume and wider range of stock items when eBay are stealing our profit margins. We will no longer stand for it. It is hard work running a Toy Shop, and it is simply not worth all the hard work for ZERO profit and selling at a loss. With what we have paid in eBay fees over the past 12 months, we could have bought in stock instead.

eBay are charging ridiculous fees for extras, for example:

  • eBay charge a 9% Final Value Fee on the final price the item is sold for. Where we have moved to, it is 2%.
  • eBay charge various amounts for a picture in search results ranging from 5p-12p. Where we have moving to there is no charge.
  • eBay charges 50p for a listing title to be in bold in search results. Where we have moved to, it is 3p.
  • eBay charges 35p for a subtitle. Where we have moved to they charge 8p.
  • eBay charge £2.50 for a listing to be highlighted in search results. Where we have moved to they charge 10p.

Where we have moved to, we face no monthly Shop Subscription Fee which eBay have raised. We face no reoccurring listing fees. We can list items for free, or for the sake of a one off £1.00 fee, we can have a Featured Listing, which the £1.00 fee 98% of the time will work out less than eBay's thieving 9% Final Value Fee, especially on sets of action figures, battle packs and vehicles. Or, for the sake a 2% Final Value Fee, we can have a Gallery Listing, which the 2% works out a lot cheaper than eBay's thieving 9%.

Where we have moved to, we will retain 99% of our profit margins which will enable us to re-invest in the business, investing in a higher volume and wider range of stock. We can now afford to offer the kind of great deals we could not offer on eBay. Both are something we can not do on eBay due to their thieving fees.

Same Great Service, Prices and Postage Costs
On the new website we have moved to, you will get the same great and fair Postage & Packaging costs that we provided on eBay, which is cheaper than 98% of our competitors. You will still get the same first class customer services you got with us on eBay, which is better than 99% of our competitors, many of which overcharge on Postage & Packaging costs and their lack of communication is disgraceful, along with slow dispatch times.

For our European Customers
As for our European customers, do not fear, you will still be able to buy from us at our new website home. As with our UK based customers, you will still receive the same great and fair Postage & Packaging fees, great first class customer service as well as great deals we can now afford to offer on our new website home which as you know, most UK based sellers on eBay rip-off European customers with extortionate Postage Costs and over priced items.

eBay are pricing sellers out of the market with their extortionate fees. How are we supposed to make a profit to cover running costs and invest in stock and earn a living when they are effectively taking our entire profit margin?

eBay will continue to raise fees unless enough sellers stand up to them, like in the UK, if enough sellers banded together, they could take it to Trading Standards. The only way you can escape the new extortionate fee structure eBay is bringing in is if you can afford the £350 per month shop subscription, plus discounted listings fees, plus discounted fees for additional extras, because you will still face fees on top, and the discounts won't add up to much over the course of a year. Even then, you will still be losing at least 80% of your profit margins.

The only people making profit on eBay are eBay themselves and the not so genuine and honest sellers who are ripping people off. PayPal is an eBay company so eBay have both their hands in the pockets of sellers.

And yes, from our new website home, we'll still sell selected items for the Make-A-Wish Foundation (UK), but now, we'll be able to afford to make bigger and better donations rather than going through eBay's rip-off system.

If any sellers have any sense, you'll leave eBay and find somewhere cheaper and fairer to sell on. When you consider eBay fees alone that you have spent over the past 12 months, you could have had your own website and had banner advertising on other websites.

eBay will continue to rip-off genuine and honest sellers. And with their new fee structure you'll still lose out in the end while you profits disappear into eBay's greedy deep pockets.

Kind regards,
Darth Reaper

Any one caught on eBay or on any other website using part or all of our listing design, layout and script, or caught trading under our name or try to copy our logo's and banners - YOU WILL BE PROSECUTED. And yes, we regularly check online for people using our protected material.

Darth Reapers Realm is a proper professional shop that uses eBid as a retail outlet. Darth Reapers Realm is officially protected under national and international Trademark 2006, 2007 and 2008. Buy With Confidence: All of Darth Reapers Realm's stock is new, factory sealed and comes direct from authorised manufacturers and distributors. We do not sell items that have exchanged hands 2 or 3 or more times unlike some of our competitors and then try to tell you that the item is new and/or case fresh! We do not purchase items that are exlusive to other stores for their full retail price then try to sell them on at a higher price. All our stock is stored safely and any purchases from our eBid shop, the item you receive comes straight from a Master Carton/Factory Sealed Case so you have our guarantee that the item you receive has not been on a shelf for others to view and handle.

We do not need to brag about our commitment to a first class service and customer care because our more than satisfied customers do that for us.

30th Anniversay: A message from Master Yoda himself: "Begun the rip-off has!" Yes, we at the Jedi High Council are not happy about the 30th Anniversary rip-off.

Rare Star Wars Figures: If in doubt about anyone selling the latest Star Wars figures and claiming they are "rare" or "ultra rare" etc, then do not hesitate in contacting Darth Reaper who will set you straight.

Saga Legends Fan's Choice: Commander Neyo, Covert Ops Clone Trooper, Shadow Stormtrooper, Utapau Shadow Trooper, Zev Senesca - These are not a rare figures. Stocks are still available from us.

TAC Wave 8.5 (2008 Wave 1): Commander Gree - this is not a rare figure. It has only been out for a couple of months. Stocks are still available, especially from us. People are claiming this figure is rare to justify their £9.99 or higher price tag when RRP is £6.99 and can be bought from us for £6.95.

TAC McQuarrie Concept Figures: Chewbacca (WV3), Darth Vader (WV4), Hero Starkiller (WV5), Snowtrooper (WV6), Han Solo (WV7), Rebel Trooper (WV8) - These are not rare figures. Stocks are still available and we are selling plenty of them for the children's charity Make-A-Wish foundation (UK). Only the Stormtrooper and Boba Fett are becoming rare but it still doesn't justify the rip-off prices. We've only raised the price on the Concept figures purely for the chairty to get more money to help grant magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses.

TAC McQuarrie Concept Luke Skywalker (Clam Shell): This is not a rare figure. Stocks are still available and will be throughout 2008/09. Check out Toys R Us, they have it in stock for £9.99 and occasionally on sale.

TAC McQuarrie Concept Obi-Wan & Yoda (Clam Shell): This is not a rare figure. Stocks are still available via various outlets in the USA.

TAC McQuarrie Concept Grievous (Clam Shell): This is not a rare figure. Stocks are still available via www.starwarsshop.com

Saga 2006 Demise of Grievous (Clam Shell): This is not a rare figure. Stocks are still available and will be throughout 2008. Check out Toys R Us, they have it in stock priced £9.99 and occasionally on sale.

Star Wars Figure Sets:
2007 Order 66 Twin Figure Packs (Set of 6 Twin Packs):
Originally made exclusive to Targer in America, it is now a shared exclusive with Tesco in the UK. These are still available from Tesco for £8.57 each. Buying them because they have the US store Target sticker on them doesn't give them higher value or mark-up on price like some misinformed eBay sellars suggest. They have to sell them at over the RRP for the UK because they have had to pay full America retail price, shipping, Customs & Excise VAT & Duty. Save yourself a fortune and buy them from Tesco.

2008 Order 66 Twin Figure Packs (Set of 6 Twin Packs): Currently exclusive to Target in America. However, we hear reports that again, they will be a shared exclusive with Tesco.

Wal*Mart Exclusive Droid Factory 2-Packs with buildable C-3PX: These are not rare at all. They have only just recently gone on sale in Wal*Mart stores across America and are set for a UK release, for which, these sets will not be exclusive to any specific store in the UK, but available widely to all good toy stores like Darth Reapers Realm, Toys R Us etc.

Commemorative Tin Sets: Despite many seller's claims, these Tin Sets are not rare at all. Stocks are still available from specific distributors in the USA via Hasbro (USA). So anyone claiming a specific set is rare, well, they're not rare, we can still buy them in their hundreds! The "Exclusive Editions" are still available from Toys R Us (UK) and there is plenty of stock to see us into 2009.

Star Wars Vehicles:
2006 AT-AT with AT-AT Driver & Scout Trooper:
This is not a rare vehicle and it will be available throughout 2008 at Toys R Us for £49.99, so those selling it for £60.00 up to £100.00 are just blatantly ripping people off! Hasbro have made this EXCLUSIVE to Toys R Us for which they purchase it direct from Hasbro - it is not available via UK distributors. At least we do not purchase this item at Toya R Us for the retail price of £49.99 then try and sell it from £59.99 up to £100.00 on eBay!

Luke Skywalker's X-Wing (Dagobah): This is not a rare vehicle and it will be available throughout 2007 at Toys R Us for £39.99.

Republic Gunship (Search for Grievous): This is not a rare vehicle and it will be available throughout 2008 at Toys R Us for £39.99.

TIE Fighter with TIE Pilot: This is not a rare vehicle and it will be available throughout 2008 at Toys R Us for £39.99.

Gold Squadron Y-Wing Fighter with Pilot & R5-D7: This is not a rare vehicle and it will be available throughout 2008 at Toys R Us for £29.99. Those selling this on eBay are purchasing it from Toys R Us as it is EXCLUSIVE to Toys R Us and can only be purchased from Toys R Us. Hasbro have made this EXCLUSIVE to Toys R Us for which they purchase it direct from Hasbro - it is not available via UK distributors for other shops. Why pay £39.99 or more plus over £6.00 postage and packaging from someone on eBay, when THEY HAVE purchased it from Toys R Us for £29.99, when you yourselves can buy it from Toys R Us for £29.99 and not get charged over £6.00 postage and packaging. At least we do not purchase this item at Toya R Us for the retail price of £29.99 then try and sell it from £39.99 on eBay!

Imperial Shuttle with Darth Vader & Royal Guard: This is not a rare vehicle and it will be available throughout 2008 at Toys R Us for £79.99. Why pay £89.99 or more plus over £8.00 postage and packaging from someone on eBay, when THEY HAVE purchased it from Toys R Us for £79.99, when you yourselves can buy it from Toys R Us for £79.99 and not get charged over £8.00 postage and packaging. At least we do not purchase this item at Toya R Us for the retail price of £79.99 then try and sell it from £89.99 on eBay!

TIE Intercepter with 181st Squadron TIE Pilot: This is not a rare vehicle and it will be available throughout 2008 at Toys R Us for £29.99. At least we do not purchase this item at Toys R Us for the retail price of £29.99 then try and sell it from £39.99 on eBay!

Battle Packs: Let's get something straight - Battle Packs are £19.99 as standard RRP. There are Battle Packs which will cost more, for example Bantha with Tusken Raiders (£39.99) and there will be other battle packs released which will cost more than £39.99, for example, Battle og Hoth and Battle of Endor, some of which will be made EXCLUSIVE to Toys R Us, which means other eBay shops will be paying Toys R Us retail price for the Arena Encounter etc and they will try selling it at a much higher price than it will be in Toys R Us. As the Arean Encounter will be a pricy Battle Pack anyway, it's not going to sell fast! Just like the Kashyyyk specific AT-RT squadron will be made into a Battle Pack containing TWO AT-RT vehicles will drivers. This will be EXCLUSIVE to Toys R Us. However, point is, some people are selling certain Battle Packs which are £19.99 but they are selling them for £30+ because it contains certain Clone Troopers or because it's a certain scene from an Episode - DO NOT GET RIPPED OFF!

Battle Packs (and vehicles) which are exclusive to Toys R Us, means, Hasbro are not making these items available to distributors or any other shop via those distributors. Toys R Us purchase these items direct from Hasbro. So anyone selling these items on eBay have had to pay full retail price for it and try to sell it to unsuspecting customers at a higher price. Be wise, purchase these items direct from Toys R Us yourself and you will save a fortune!

Clone Wars YODA and CORUSCANT GUARD Battle Pack: This item is not rare as some are saying. It has just been released and is available at Argos for £29.99 and wil be available for some time. Anyone selling this on eBay has paid £29.99 for it from Argos and are basically trying to rip collectors off by starting auctions for this item at £29.99 or at a lower price with a reserve of £29.99 to meet. Don't be foolish, pop down to Argos and buy it or order it online from Argos. You'll save money on the item and postage.

Mint Condition: Be wary of people selling carded Star Wars figures claiming to be in mint condition. Quite often promotional stickers and price labels have been removed defacing the card and price labels and promotional stickers placed or replaced to cover them. Also be wary of pictures of carded figures which do not show the bottom or tops of the card as quite often you'll find these bottom left/right corners are dog-eared and the top left/right corners could also show the same signs.
