Hi. our moving day was set for 21/06/08. sky were informed and they said they couldn't disconnect until the 23/06/08. then they disconnected us on the 18th. then they said they couldn't reconnect until the 28/06. then after quoting £30 for reinstall to sky tv they tried to charge £50. i told them no way i'd rather have no tv. they then said i could have that service free of charge. on the 28/6 we still had no internet so i said where is it they said oops sorry we should have said the 5/07. oh and by the way because you had you home install free we are now going to charge £50 for your broadband reconnect. i said you can't it's a free service. they said they would charge. so i told them what they could do with their broadband. after a couple of days scrabbling around looking for a new provider we settled on bt. they said we would be installed on the 17/07 without fail. well it failed and we didn't get installed until 23/07.
that is what happened to Silverback in the last month. the cost to us for skys error has been nearly £2000 not just because of jewellery making items being sold on ebay but things like a 3 piece suite, fridge freezer, flooring we'd bought, the list is endless. we had to pay for items to be taken to the tip rather than sold. then there was all the information we stored in blog and email to assist with our move, phone numbers, how to's,forms.
you all know how stressful moving is anyway and when you are disabled the problems are magnified.
coupled with all our personal problems was the constant worry over our customers.we knew people had bought items and wanted them asap.
some of our customers have been extraordinairily kind and understanding for those we will always be extremely thankful. others, like the person who has called us THIEVES in his feedback have hurt us immensely. some had the sense to know that something wasn't right. a good few just got on with sticking the boot in. i mean come on we had a good reputation would we jeopardize that over £2.50 or even £10.00. what has happened to some people's commonsense. i think some people are just happy when something goes wrong.
We are hoping that if any of the customers who read this that have begun complaints with ebay or paypal will now see that we have not tried to rip them off and do us a kindness by putting an end to those complaints. by contacting us via the ebay messaging service (NOT email) we can then start to sort out the problems of refunds, resends, etc and get back to normality.
We've had a hellish month, the repurcussions of which we will feel for sometime we hope that there are people out there who want to help rather than make things worse.my health has deteriorated quite badly and rather than going in to hospital in 6 weeks time it looks like 10 days time. we are just asking for compassion and commonsense to prevail.
Thank You again to all of those who have shown patience and kindness you have been a godsend. We send all of you who have been affected by our difficulties our sincerest and most heartfelt apologies.
take care all.
kindest,janette and zaahn
ps. are we going to resume selling? i don't think so but i am in talks with someone who wanted to sell similar items to us before all this happened. i may just stay as an advisor to them and work towards the website i wanted previously.
my gripe with ebay at this moment in time. they should not permit name calling and unfounded accusations in feedback. calling someone a thief in black and white is nothing short of libellous and certainly defamation of character
SELLERS BEWARE
section 11 of the legal agreement for users we all sign as sellers upon opening a paypal account. You must have trackable online proof of delivery from an independent shipper to the address on the “Transaction Details” page. For transactions involving an amount equal to the £150 GBP or more (or, if the transaction is in a different currency, if the transaction exceeds $325.00 CAD, €200.00 EUR, $250.00 USD, ¥28,000 JPY, $350.00 AUD, 330.00 CHF, 1,600.00 NOK, 2,000.00 SEK, 1,500.00 SKK, 800.00 PLN, 55,000 HUF, 6,000.00 CZK, $400.00 SGD, $2,000.00 HKD, $380.00 NZD, $2,750.00 MXN, 1,000.00 ILS, depending on the transaction currency.) , you must provide a proof of receipt that was signed or otherwise acknowledged by the buyer, and
For those of you who are not aware what this little paragraph is telling you is that Certificates of Posting count for ****. any claims made against you where you do not have a recorded delivery tracking number( minimum insurance) will go against you. Proof of posting is not adequate and and you will get no support from paypal on this matter. even if you send something out that costs just 99p. you cannot get around this by writing a disclaimer in your ads. there is no way around it.
The ramifications of this for sellers who sell small products (like beads and jewellery making items) are huge. Ebayers come to ebay for bargains by charging everytime for recorded delivery customers will not be willing to purchase. also don't forget cerificates of posting do not cover jewellery items.
the quandry becomes do you look after your customers or look after yourself? i have always prided myself on great customer service.most of the time welcoming my customers in to a friendship base of mutual respect borne of a mutual enjoyment of beading and jewellery making. by the numbers who have rushed to paypal to make a claim. to the person who has labelled me a thief i have been kidding myself. ebay is a reflection of our modern society ME ME ME BARGAIN BARGAIN BARGAIN without pleasantries, being kind to your fellow man, fairness, and compassion being the furthest from anyones mind.
Ebay inequality. a customer bought items from me 3 weeks ago. they live in france. i asked her to pay insurance of £3.50. she refused. so i said ok don't but if it gets lost that's not my problem. so now she refuses to pay. any support from ebay. NO
