Welcome to our site

We are two people living and working together on the edge, so to speak, on the edge of Hampstead Heath in central London. We have a varied, eclectic history and our two paths joined up about 5 years ago. Since leaving nappies I have been involved, one way or another, in art, design, paintings and antiques. My mother cultivated my interest in antiques from a very early age when I had to sit and do my homework in her shop while she sold antique furniture to people from all over the world.

My partner's interest in antiques and object d'art from the last century began with a Saturday job helping out in his uncle's antique shop whilst still at school. From there he started a flourishing business buying pieces from all over Europe and selling to dealers and in auctions. He then sold at Camden Lock and at the world famous Portobello Road, where we met and subsequently joined forces. A lot of the things we were selling at Portobello Rd ended up in destinations as far afield as Japan, America and Australia, so we thought why not do this at home instead? And that's how we came to be here, on the global auction site Ebay.

What We do

We sell small to medium sized pieces of period furniture, mostly items that we consider to be useful in the home as well as decorative. They range in age from Georgian, through the Victorian period, and, occasionally up to the 1960’s. Every piece is closely scrutinized by our cabinet maker who can repair or restore all small defects that have arisen from perhaps, central heating shrinkage, or simply due to age. He cleans and polishes all pieces, ready for their new homes, without interfering with any patina that has become part of the integral beauty of the piece. We also sell a wide variety of antiques & collectibles, specialising in unusual and unique items from all over Europe, but particularly England, France & Belgium. This includes sterling silver and silver plate, Victoriana, china, glass, vintage clothing and textiles, art nouveau, art deco, arts & crafts, metalware, some Oriental items, & bamboo.

Our Goal

We have one simple criterion and that is to find items that we would be happy to have or use in our own home - if we love them, then others probably will too.

Order Processing

After the auction ends you will receive an email confirmation that you are the successful bidder. This email will also contain all the information you need regarding how to pay and shipping details.If you are paying by check or money order your item will be held for 10 days. If payment is not received within that time, the hold will be removed from the item(s) and they will be returned to stock, and a non-bidder alert will be issued immediately. Current applicable fees will be charged in cases of bounced checks.

• PERSONAL/COMPANY CHEQUES If paying by cheque, please allow time for clearance.
• NOCHEX Free to all our U.K. customers.
• MONEYBOOKERS Use your debit/credit cards or transfer money direct from your bank account.
• PAYPAL I accept Pounds Sterling payments through PayPal. Use your debit/credit cards or transfer money direct from your bank account.

Using PAYPAL or MONEYBOOKERS.COM or NOCHEX will usually guarantee faster shipping, as it means there are no cheques to clear, although we can never be 100% sure when your item will arrive, as it all depends on the schedule of our delivery service.

To pay for your items, you may use any of the following methods:

• Payingfast Pay fast using your credit card or check online
• BidPay Money orders by credit card/debit card by Western Union
• MONEYBOOKERS Use your debit/credit cards or transfer money direct from your bank account.
• PAYPAL eBay's service to make fast, easy and secure payments for your eBay purchases.
• I accept Euro payments through PayPal.

Using Paypal or any other electronic payment method will usually guarantee faster shipping, as it means there are no cheques to clear.

• PERSONAL CHEQUE/MONEY ORDER. If paying by cheque, please allow time for clearance.
• DIRECT BANK TRANSFER: We now have a U.S. Bank Account in New York where, by arrangement, you can make your payment. We do not accept cash payments (except EUROS & Sterling, if sent by REGISTERED POST).

INSURANCE IS OPTIONAL: please contact us for quote and guidelines.

SHIPPING OF SMALL ITEMS:

Most items will be shipped by U.K. Parcel Force,with whom we have an account which enables us to get discounts on shipping to most countries.We are able to ship these items, door to door, anywhere in the world, at affordable prices, and pride ourselves on careful packing. We have spent time and effort building up a client list of customers who know they can confidently buy items from us that will arrive quickly and, when opened, be exactly as described (see eBay feedbacks). For us, a happy customer is our main concern.

There is a shipping/handling charge which covers all postage, packing, shipping and (optional) insurance. This will be paid by the successful bidder. This charge is non-negotiable but does not apply if goods are directly picked up from us. Also this charge will be reduced for any multiple purchases that can be shipped in one parcel.

SHIPPING IN THE BRITISH ISLES:

Frockabilia can take all the stress out of buying a piece of antique furniture for you because buying from us is just like buying from a local shop. What could be easier than seeing something you like on a screen in front of you in your own home, buying it and then having someone else deliver it to your door. You simply purchase the item and then we arrange the delivery. We have very competitive delivery charges to anywhere in the British Isles.

Please allow 2 to 28 days for delivery within UK depending on your area. We try to get your items to you as quickly as possible, but it all depends on the schedule of our delivery service. If you are located in Scotland or Ireland, for instance, it may take a little longer, as the drivers have regular trips to those faraway locations, and they may have just returned from one of them after you have purchased your item. (if you email us with your postal code we can normally give you a fairly accurate delivery date).

SHIPPING IN EUROPE:

The delivery service is growing very quickly and this means that we are now able to deliver more frequently and more easily to Europe, particularly France and Belgium. There is no size restriction on the pieces of furniture we can transport, which is door to door. Delivery can take between 4 – 6 weeks, depending on whether we have just made a trip or are just about to.

WE SHIP INTERNATIONALLY - Please contact us for shipping price to your country.

Our Return Policy:

We're certain you'll be happy with your item. We take extra care to fully describe our pieces, including any flaws. If you have any questions about the item(s) you are bidding on, please email us before placing your bid.

All auction descriptions are honest, accurate, detailed and have many pictures, if the item has a flaw we try to show a picture so you will know exactly what you are bidding on. But please remember that there is normal wear and tear and it is not always possible to show that.

We take extra precautions to pack our orders to prevent damage and breakage. If, despite our efforts, your order does arrive damaged, you must contact us immediately and, if you are insured, we will advise you of the procedure to follow.
