Hi and thanks for stopping by today. My name is Simona and I am a full-time working mom of two wonderful girls - Zara (4) and Rania (1). Ebay is a passion of mine (my dear husband sometimes calls it an obsession - I wonder why?...LOL). Even though it is not my real job, I do take it seriously and I strive to make your shopping experience at The Baby Emporium as pleasant as possible. I have learned a lot since I started doing this in 2003, and I would like to share my selling phylosophy with you. Communication is always good, I say! WHAT I SELL: My primary focus is NWT children's clothing, especially Gymboree and Baby Gap, but I am also trying to offer some boutique items. I personally would like to go more into this direction in the future, but it takes time with a full job outside the house and two little ones who are constantly requesting attention...Over the past year or so, I have also started offering a limited range of toys and household items. And let's not forget - my daughters' gently used clothes - and let me tell you - there is A LOT of those! HOW I SELL: I will admit it, I am afraid of auctions! That's why I sell most of my items through my store. I will occasionally run some auctions, especially in spring and around back to school time when I like to clear my daughters closets faster, but store listings give me the flexibility to list at odd hours of the night, and not worry about "the right ending time" for auctions... MY PRICES: My items are prices based on a number of factors - cost, rarity, etc. For Gymboree and Baby Gap items, I have a pretty good idea about the going rate (I am not comparing with auctions, though, since we all know auctions often go for much less than what the item is worth...). A tiny percentage of my items is priced above retail - I understand some customers may have difficulty accepting this, but please respect my decision to price my own items. Rather than message me telling me I am greedy or worse (trust me, I've had situations where I was utterly apalled at what people wrote to me), please just move on. Nasty emails will not make me lower my prices... BEST OFFERS: I generally do not take best offers but I do have this option on certain items. However, when sending a BO please consider the fact that I do not price my items excessively high in the first place, so BO for half the asking price will not be accepted. I usually accept offers for 10-20% less than list price. Often times, I have BO set up so that they get automatically declined if they are under a certain price.B COMMUNICATION WITH BUYERS: I try to answer all general questions quickly, but measurement questions are more difficult for me. Personally, I never ask for measurements for buying on ebay, but I can see why some people need this information...Usually these questions come to me during the day, when I am at work and without access to the item. Most often, during week days, when I get home I am too busy with household work and the kids to even get near a computer until very late at night (when I try to get some items shipped) or not at all. Having to dig through bins of stuff to get to an item to measure it is sometimes too time consuming for me. I apologize to those customers who really need this information, but I want to be upfront with you all. That is not to say that I ignore measurement questions, I do try to measure as many of them as I can, but some will fall through the cracks. ISSUE RESOLUTION: If ever a problem arises with your item, please contact me before leaving feedback and I will do my best to work things out with you. We are all human and make occasional mistakes - they are pretty rare for me, as you can see from my feedback - but they do sometimes happen. Please be so kind and give me a chance to rectify. At the same time, please have realistic expectations. I think I ship fast, but once an item is shipped I can't control how quickly it gets to you. For example, I got a negative feedback this year from a person who won a Webkinz on Saturday, I shipped Monday first thing in the am via first class, and by Wednesday I got a negative FB because "the item didn't arrive within the 5 days stated in listing". Well, I had never stated such thing in my listing but the buyer looked at the "3-5 day estimated delivery time" that Ebay puts near all first-class shipping cost estimates, and that was that... I am personally a very understanding buyer, and I hope that this would somehow invite kindness from my customers as well...All that karma, you know... FEEDBACK POLICIES. I have learned from experience that it is best to wait until I know that the buyer has received the item and is happy with it. For me, the transaction is not complete until I know that you are a satisfied buyer. I always leave positive feedback for completed transactions, but I will leave negative FB (at the risk of retaliatory FB, which I have actually received several times) for non-paying bidders. I have and will make exceptions in special circumstances, but you need to contact me and let me know what happened. SHIPPING: I ship at least twice a week, usually Wednesay and Sunday, but often times I ship more often - it just stresses me out to have a long list of things awaiting shipment:) However, additional shipping days are random and depend on time availability, so if you need your item urgently is always best to contact me before hand to see if it's feasible. Once again, please be realistic - I am on the East Coast and if you are in California and contact me on Thursday asking if you can get your item by Saturday, chances are I will have to say no. INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: As you may be aware, the USPS service offering has changed in May 2007 and rates have gone up significantly. I still ship to most countries, but for smaller items I have increasingly switched to priority mail, especially where items can fit in a flat rate envelope. Priority mail shipping labels can be printed through paypal and so it's better for both of us - there is a way for you to see when exactly your item shipped, and it's also more convenient for me. The rate is around $10-12. Please ask for a shipping quote BEFORE placing a bid or BIN. International packages require drop-off at the post office so I try to group them together and ship them once or twice a week. RETURN POLICIES. All sales are final, unless there has been a listing error, such as wrong size or wrong item sent. In those cases, I will refund your purchase price including shipping once the item is returned to me within one week of original delivery.
