What do you do when you're too old to rock and roll, but too young to die (apart from drive the kids mad by listening to your old Jethro Tull records)?
When head-banging means a neck brace for six weeks there has to be a gentler way to indulge your passion for the great and not-so-great bands and artists of the past (and present - some of them are still rocking and in better nick than I am!).
So I started buying patches and badges... and the rest (as they say) is history...
MY BUSINESS DETAILS:
You can find me, Susan Carlson Dunn, at
THE NOVELTY ROCK EMPORIUM, HOWHILL, GARRIGILL, ALSTON, CUMBRIA, CA9 3DF, UK
EMAIL: potluck@howhill.com TEL: 01434 382690
I've learned a lot - about people, about selling, and about the history of rock music.
Many of the items I sell are pre-1990 and are the unused genuine articles - either old shop stock or from other collectors. Where possible I try to put a date to them. Any new repro stuff is clearly marked in the item description.
I have a large stock and usually have a batch up for auction.
There are also many items that are not music-related (e.g. great fractal images, transport badges, advertising and promotional badges, clothing and personal items from the never-ending house tidying and reorganisation). I look out for interesting bits and pieces on my travels, too.
SPECIAL OFFERS:
1. THE NOVELTY ROCK EMPORIUM GEOGRAPHICAL LOTTERY SPECIAL OFFER - each month buyers in different world locations are eligible for 10% off their total purchase price for any single transaction (including multiple purchases paid for as one transaction) - take a look! It might be your area this month...
2. THE NOVELTY ROCK EMPORIUM CUSTOMER LOYALTY BONUS - Every time a buyer completes a successful transaction they are awarded one point. Collect ten points and you'll get a 10% discount on your total purchase price for the 10th transaction.
Please see The Novelty Rock Emporium SPECIAL OFFER pages for more details of these offers - conditions apply.
ITEM DESCRIPTIONS:
Item descriptions are as accurate as I can make them - I don't gloss over any defects that I find. BUT I'm not expert on anything in particular and am always interested to know more about the items I sell - please tell me if I get it wrong or if you have additional interesting information on any item.
POSTAGE & PACKING (SHIPPING & HANDLING):
I have a standard rate for packages weighing up to 100g - so if you buy one standard sized patch or four the price will be the same (the number of items in 100g will vary with their size).
Pro rata for packages weighing more than 100g. For most items the quoted p&p is just that - a fee for postage cost and packing materials and my time.
UK postage includes Recorded Delivery in most cases. This means that either there needs to be someone at home when the postie calls, or the item must be collected from the local delivery office within 7 days. If you want me to delay posting the item (e.g. if you're going away) I'm happy to do so - just let me know.
PAYMENT & DISPATCH:
I always notify buyers that payment has been received - the notification will include the dispatch date for your item.
You will also receive a Dispatch Notification. Please be sure to check your email and eBay messages regularly - for items sent by Recorded Delivery (UK or International) your Dispatch Notification includes the Royal Mail Track & Trace Reference Number.
***Please see FAQ & International Buyers shop pages for more information on Postage & Payment.***
RETURNS:
I accept returns within 14 days of receipt - for any genuine and valid reason. Your statutory rights (UK Distance Selling Regulations) give you a 7 day "cooling off" period. BUT - I do not accept returns on items of used clothing, toiletries, cosmetics, or other personal items unless the item has been substantially misdescribed. Neither do I accept returns on used videos, CDs, DVDs & items which could be copied before return.
Having said all that... If there is a problem with your item - let me know. I don't bite, and would like you to be 100% satisfied with your purchase.
You can find full details of my Business Policies on the Business Policies & Details page in my eBay shop.
FEEDBACK:
As a SELLER I always leave feedback. BUYERS - please have the good manners to do the same. I will leave feedback for you when I know you are happy with your item - this will usually be after you have received it and have indicated your satisfaction by leaving positive feedback for me.
As a BUYER I always leave feedback. SELLERS - please have the good manners to do the same. I will contact you if I am dissatisfied with any aspect of the sale and hope that you will deal with me as I deal with my buyers - with honesty, politeness, consideration and fairness.
LISTINGS:
Please don't ask me
- to end an auction early - it isn't fair to other interested parties
- to sell outside eBay - it's breaking eBay rules
- to relist items that you have missed - eventually I relist everything
Please do
- let me know if an item description is not correct
- ask if you don't find what you are looking for - I'm happy to put up relevant items (if I have them) in the next batch or as a special Buy-It-Now in the shop
- communicate
So go on...grow wings and rush along...whatever your poison, U2 can find nirvana in this oasis of nostalgia.
