How it all began

I have been crafting in one way or another since my grandmother taught me to knit when I was 6. I started out with a six-pronged 'knitting Nancy.' Fascinated with the wool tube coming out the bottom, I stitched the tube in 2 circles with a popper for the clasp, and plaited wool for the handle I had made my first handbag. 

From there I picked up knitting needles and I knitted a scarf - loads of holes, so I unpicked and tried again. I lost count how many times I restarted, but finally I had a scarf. After that it was non-stop knitting for my brothers, for myself and eventually some friends.

I also learnt embroidery and cross-stitching from my gran and I’m so grateful to her now for all the time that she spent, endless hours of patience and dedication to teach me her hobbies that she loved so much.

I soon branched out on my own and tried so many crafts over the years. My favourite that I’m obsessed with now is paper crafting, in particular card making and scrapbooking.

Now I have 2 children of my own and teaching them, like my grandmother taught me. They love crafting at our kitchen table. We all have fun and I get so much inspiration and enthusiasm from them, it’s a joy to watch them craft. Between us we made all our greetings cards for the year ahead.
