Clearing out our clutter


John and Sue Ward are Johnatbarnet. All the items we sell belong to us or to near relatives who do not want to get involved in selling. We started to ebay as a way to de-clutter our house. Since we started selling on Ebay we have managed to clear out one large crate of Asterix and Tintin books which belonged to our son who was a very careful reader. We also inherited a large cardboard box of Theatre World magazines from the 1930s to 1957. It was good to find that people collect these as they were almost consigned to the re-cycling bin. In the back of cupboards we found some old militaria belonging to John and our son. We were amazed at the money people are prepared to pay for patches and badges. We also inherited some jewelry belonging to an aunt. Some of it was definitely not our taste – but as ever there is someone out there who loves it. We now have relatives collecting dvds and childrens cds from the newspapers. Selling them enables us to give even more to charity. We always leave feedback, but we have found that some people don’t do the same to us. Although we are not a business we do appreciate feedback because it lets us know that the items have arrived safely – especially when they have gone abroad and it gives buyers more confidence that we are genuine. Thank you to all our buyers you have been great.
