I have had many emails from people asking me a little about myself and how I
am inspired to create my witches!
So...I thought
it about time to tell my story.
My name is
JoAnn Biccum and I am currently living down the Shore where I spent most of my childhood years. I am so happy to be back. The salt water and the fresh sea breezes make me feel alive again!
I grew
up in Upstate NY around the Catskill Mountains. Moved to the Shore when I was about 7. My
witch infatuation started at a young age in the Catskill Mountains.
When I
was a little girl my Mom and My whacky Aunt Susan...who I refer to
as Auntie Em...used to load all of us kids ( 7 of us) into
the station wagon and we would set about the loooong drive to the
grocery stores or whatever other chores they had to do that day. To
keep us kids quiet and entertained they would drive through the back
roads and tell us stories. They would tell us how the Cookie monster
lived in this house and the witches lived in this house and so on
and so on.
I don't
know about my cousins but I was fascinated by the silly stories they
would tell and could not wait to go for drives through the back
roads of the mountains. Sometimes the cookie monster was playing the
piano and sometimes he was just eating cookies! The witches were
always up to something! I have been sketching my witches since I was
a little girl. My mother and my Auntie Em certainly have lots to do
with my whacky imagination! And! My Auntie Em's Birthday is on
Halloween!
I love
to paint my witches doing all sorts of fun things. Sometimes I make
them spooky but more often than not they are just doing things in
their "Witch World" that seem to be regular
enough...or at least to me...lol!

Oh my!! I do enjoy painting the crows as
well! And...some sheep! As I paint I look out my window and there are always
some big fat beautiful crows under my black walnut tree...so they pop into
my paintings quite often! Most of my paintings are very fun and
whimsical! I enjoy painting many different things and I am happy to take
requests for and to combine shipping. I always do my best to
please and always combine on shipping. Feel free to
email me
with any and all questions! Thank you!
