I always dreamed of living in a tropical place where you can hear the faint sound of crickets in the grass, while watching the sun set with a cool drink in my hand.
Well one day I did it, I moved to Mexico. Mexico is such a vibrant place and the country is so diverse in people and in landscapes. From deserts, caribbean & pacific beaches, cold mountain tops and the place that captured me, the rain forest.
Well so much has happened since then, I met the man of my dreams, we built a house, see our cabin for rent if you ever fancy visiting the Mexican rain forest. If you ever want to learn more about yourself try construction. That ended up being much more than we had bargained for. But like all things it is turning out just swell in the end!
Then I learned something that I had always longed to do, design and make jewellery. I have always loved fashion and jewellery and dreamed of making my own. I was always a great shopper! But believe it or not all that shopping experience was very valuable, I learnt a lot that now I use as a designer.
It's part of my philosophy for designing, I always think about how each piece is wearable, and what you could wear it with. Is versitile and comfortable to wear? So many times as a consumer I bought something I loved but it just sat in the box, because it was so unwearable, for one reason or another. So when designing I first design the look, but then I try to imagine the woman or man wearing it, and is it practical.
Now we are selling on line our designs and creations. Whilst my husband, who is an actor, is in a show which is going down a storm. He also crafts beautiful items in leather, when he can find the time. So all in all its kind of busy, but I love it like that. Every day is a new, exciting adventure. I love owning my own time, to spend how I choose. To wake to each day excited at what the day may hold.
I love Mexico, but the world is big & so inspiring. I want to see more of it and also it's a great excuse for me to do two of my favourite things. Travel, whilst I can shop for more, new, original designs and crafts for My1ofs!
I do get back to old blighty every year for a few months, and its great to see my family & friends, and eat Walkers cheese & onion crisps & galaxy bars. Oh the things you miss from home!
