Royal Mail Workers Industrial Action (October 2007)

Unfortunately Royal Mail workers are staging yet more strikes! :'( While the Royal Mail network will continue to operate as best as possible, the industrial action will disrupt all postal services and cause delay to all mail both already within the mail system yet to be delivered and mail posted within the week or so after the strike has ended. Please be aware that your items are very likely to take longer than usual or expected to arrive. I also must ask that you please take these circumstances into due consideration when rating my Dispatch Time in feedback as more than ever during this period I will be powerless to have any influence on when you will receive your items. Thank you for your understanding on this matter.

The announced strike periods so far are:

  • Thursday 4th October - Saturday 6th October
  • Monday 8th October - Wednesday 10th October

These will be followed by an unspecified programme of weekly strikes, starting week commencing October 15th, until the resolution of the dispute.

Postage Days (October 2007)

For the duration of October I expect only to be able to post items on Saturdays.

Both of the above issues are clearly stated in the listings of all items I am currently selling. Kicking up a fuss and claiming ignorance after you've won an item is no excuse!

 About Me 

The man behind the mask is a rather peculiar fellow by the name of Michael - a faceless, unsuspecting galactic clone minion by day, frantic eBay buyer and seller by night who mainly trades videogames, toys, and photography goods. I can be contacted by and, well, just that for now :P (possibly Skype in future!)

What you can expect from me:

  • Guarantee that I won't drop my shipments at the first sign of an Imperial cruiser.

Why no 100% rating? Unfortunately in 2005 I bought from a rather unscrupulous seller who was falsely claiming non-payment on items so that they could relist the item again to sell for a higher price. Suffice to say I was not the only victim of this and the seller was soon kicked off eBay. Nevertheless despite its illegitimate nature this scar on my otherwise superb feedback cannot be erased, although hopefully the contrasting 700+ positive ratings speak for themselves! :D

 Seller Policies 

There's quite a fair bit below I know but please fret not! Most of my conditions are common sense, and some policies are elaborated upon simply so my honest intentions and stance on selling is there in writing for your perusal before you buy.

  • New users welcome! - No 'newbie' hating here! :D
  • International users welcome! - Although sometimes listings are U.K. only sorry :(
  • Questions encouraged! - Use 'Ask seller a question' link on item page.

Payment

  • Accepted methods: I accept payment by Paypal *only* on all of my auctions.
  • Payment time span: Please ensure payment within 48 hours of auction end.
  • If you are unable to adhere to these payment conditions please do not bid!

Postage & Packaging

Dispatch time: Except in the case of Special Delivery Next Day (which will be sent at the earliest opportunity) I aim to post items within 5 working days of payment having been received.

Postage costs: Quoted postage prices are approximations and may not match exactly the actual required fees. Additional postal services other than those included with listings can be quoted upon request. If you are located outside of the UK please contact me for postage costs to your location *before* bidding.

Proof of postage: Proof of postage receipts are obtained for all posted items and can be scanned upon request.

Item value over £32? Royal Mail 1st Class, 2nd Class, Recorded Signed-For, Standard Parcels, Airmail, and Surface Mail compensate items to a maximum of £32. If the value of the auction item (excluding P&P) exceeds this amount and you choose any of these methods of postage I cannot provide a full refund in the unlikely event that the item is lost or damaged in the post. For your peace of mind it is advised that any purchases over £32 are sent by the following methods depending on location:

  • U.K. - Special Delivery Next Day or Standard Parcels with added cover (additional £1.00 to cost).
  • E.U. Nations - Airsure (can also be used for U.S.A. and New Zealand).
  • Rest of the World - International Signed-For service for Airmail or Surface Mail (additional £3.50 to chosen method).

Recorded and Signed-For postage reminder: These services are not courier or guarenteed delivery services. Recorded Signed-For, Special Delivery Next Day, and Airsure can be tracked online but only to the extent of the main depots they have passed through, and then onto final confirmation of delivery. International Signed-For items can be traced until they leave the UK. These signed postage services also do not ensure actual receipt for the designated addressed individual, simply that a signature is taken at the stated address before the mail is delivered.

Packaging: While most of my sales are sent out in new Jiffy padded envelopes I often recycle packaging when sending goods, although I do not make use of any materials that would compromise the security or safety of items in transit. At all times items are packed securely and extra care is taken with items of a high value. I cannot be held responsible for damage caused by the postal services.

Addressing: Items are sent to the name and address included in your payment invoice (and printed directly from that text) unless I am notified otherwise. Please ensure your address is correct before paying.

Returns & Refunds

If there are any problems please contact me as soon as possible through eBay.

Refunds will be given only for legitimate reasons and as a result of sensible and thorough dialogue conducted on the matter within 14 days of item having been sent. I cannot be held liable for items lost or damaged in the mail but I will endeavor to help locate items and compensate buyers to the extent afforded by their selected postage service and on the timescale of Royal Mail's report and compensation process. I can appreciate this may all sound very harsh and nit-picky but please bare in mind that the majority of private sellers (what eBay calls individuals selling as opposed to businesses) offer no refunds or returns whatsoever and almost all that do without stipulations are exploited by time wasters.

Conditions of refund:

  • Refunds will not necessarily be given within 14 days.
  • Refunds do not include original postage fees.
  • Refunds may not be given until item has been received back.
  • Return postage costs must be incurred by buyers.
  • If the value of an item (not including P&P) was above £32 (see 'Value over £32?' section above for more details) and a buyer chose not to select a postal service that would cover the full cost then I may not be able to give a full refund.

Not applicable for refunds:

  • Items damaged in the post may not receive refunds.
  • Items listed with size, region, device, system, or other specific compatibility details will not receive refunds for incompatibility reasons.
  • Items listed as tested or working, including (but not limited to) DVDs, CDs, and game cartridges, will not receive refunds if claimed to be not working.
  • Items sold 'AS IS' will not receive refunds.

  • I usually leave feedback as soon as I have sent your item.
  • I would appreciate it if you would do the same once you've received your item :D
  • If there are any problems please contact me first so I can try to resolve them.
