I have been a member of Ebay since June 2003 under the ID of mand200, but because of the new Ebay rules I have set up a seperate account to sell my handcrafted cards and other items that are new or made by myself. I have a 100% feedback rate of over 4005 satisfied buyers & sellers to date, so you can feel confident buying from me.

I love crafty, gothic, rock - being an ex biker rocker :-) - unusual/different things and usually end up listing a wide variety of items I have found and loved - although I usually end up keeping most of them myself or have to buy two of each :-) I also have a son with Asperger's Syndrome - see below for more info - and so if I find any little 'fidget toys' or other similiar things that I have found helpful I will list these, so that hopefully other children like my special boy will benefit from these.
My sister and I started off a small buisness about 10 years ago - under the name of SASAKS Dreamtime - with a market stall in our home town. We mainly sold Native American Dreamcatchers, ethnic jewelry etc. We then hired a little shop and sold our stuff from there and the stall. After meeting the man of my dreams (lol, nightmares more like :-) only joking John!!) and getting pregnant I decided to give up the buisiness for a while. After my son was born over 9 years ago I decided I would do something else and started making cards for all occassions, at first this was just for friends and relatives at Christmas, Birthdays etc and then word got around and I started to sell them to other people. I still make cards and other 'crafty' stuff but don't have time to do as much as I would like - if you see SASAKS in my listings this means the item is handcrafted by me personally. If you would like a card for a special occassion drop me an email and I can design one, or if you have an idea of what you would like let me know and I will do my very best. All my handcrafted items are made from quality materials - the sort of things I would expect to buy for myself and because my cards and other bits are handmade no two are exactly the same and I can customise most of my items for you. This means you are getting a unique item!
Ebay has been a godsend to me, as I have problems with my leg after jumping off the back of a motorbike twenty odd years ago and smashing it up! This means sometimes it can be difficult for me to get out and about and do 'boring shopping' as my son calls it :-)
As you have probably guessed I have a son and a hubby, so eBay also allows me to be flexible with my 'work' and I can do it when they're at school/work and so I can spend more time with my family which is important to me.
As with all families we collect sooooo much stuff!! We all love to read, but my son is especially gifted in that area - this is part of his Aspergers (see below) - and so every so often I have to clear out some books to make room for more :-) Also, because my son is growing so fast, every so often I will have some clothes and toys for sale. These items will be listed on my other account 'mand200'
I try to keep a look out for little 'fidget toys' and fun things that may help other children like my special little boy and I will list these under this account.

As I mentioned before I have a son who, after years of assessments, endless appointments, meetings etc has been diagnosed with Aperger's Syndrome, Dyspraxia and a little ADHD thrown in (apparently I have found out that these things usually come with the 'package' of Asperger's).
We are still learning about and from our beautiful, unique child everyday. Somedays are not so good but most of the time we are just in awe of our special little boy. Each day he suprises, each day we learn from him.
I am so very suprised very little is known or understood about Autism and Austistic Spectrum Disorders/Syndromes as this is a very common condition - I think the latest figures say that the average class at school (about 30 children) will have a least one child on the Autistic Spectrum - and this is becomming more common everday as more and more children are being diagnosed!!
I have written below an outline of what Asperger's Syndrome is to maybe try and enlighten people who have not come accross it before.
Asperger's is said to be part of the Autistic Spectrum. 'Asperger's Syndrome' was first used in 1981 to describe a group of people with Autism who were 'more able' academically, so it is a relatively 'new' diagnosis. Asperger's is a name given to a condition that affects a distinct group of people on the Autistic Spectrum. People with Asperger's are called 'high functioning' with average or above average intelligence level, but still show the 'triad of impairment' assosiated with Autism -
- Social Relationships
- Verbal & Non Verbal Communication and
- Theory of Mind
The main features of Asperger's are;
- Problems understanding speech
- Literal understanding of language
- Problems understanding body language
- Problems understanding the right thing to say and do in social situations
- Problems thinking about things that are pretend
- Little eye contact
- Clumsiness
- Dislike of change
- Special all-absorbing interests
- Love of routine
- Average or above average academic ability
- Tendency to be truthful and law-abiding
- Very good attention to detail
Unlike most people with Autism, most people with Asperger's actually want to make friends. They often feel lonely and want to make social contact but don't know how.
They can speak fluently and often use complex words. They love to talk about special interests but fail to notice when the person they are talking to becomes bored. They take language literally - if you said to a person with Asperger's 'He cried his eyes out' or 'She laughed her head off' they would be scared to cry or laugh in case their eyes fell out or their head fell off. I once said to my son when he was younger and dragging behind when we were walking 'For goodness sake pick your feet up' and he proceeded to bend down and try and literally pick his feet up with his hands?! This ended up in a lot of confusion and explaining!!
They tend to prefer things to be 'real' and usually like data,science and maths, but are not so keen on made-up stories or ideas that cannot be proved such as religion or philosophy. Young Aspies tend to act out situations they have seen on TV or in real life and sometimes this can be missinterpreted as immaginative play - they will often go over a situation again and again, this is another way of coping with a world full of strange rules.
People with Asperger's dislike change. My son needs to know in advance if anything is going to change in his daily rountine - if we are going to make changes we usually do a timetable of where we are going and what we are going to do or print out loads of info from the internet for him to look at before we go. Aspies usually immerse themselves in special interests like trains, cartoon characters, timetables or machines.
Children are usually diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome later than children with classic Autism as their language usually developes OK, whereas children with classic Autism have problems with speech developement and so are usually diagnosed early on in life. Diagnosis is usually about age 7 years, when the social problems come out. My son was diagnosed at around 7 years, though we contacted health visitors and doctors when he was about 3 years because we and the teachers at his nursery did notice something 'different' about him then.
I hope I haven't bored you too much :-) This is just an outline and because like classic Autism, Asperger's is a spectrum disorder there are so many variants and each child will be different.
