Well, the summer's nearly over and we've been incredibly busy not only gathering goodies for eBay but stocking our shop here. The village brocantes and vide greniers were fabulous as usual and I've really enjoyed them all. It's mostly the thrill of never knowing what you're going to find!
Our summer here has been a little kinder that the UK's but sadly there was little time for sitting in the garden in the sun. The early rain means that we had a bumper crop from grape vine. Its only three years old so the bunches are only 4-5 inches long but the raisin sized grapes are sweet and juicy.
We did our first full house clearance here last month which was an eye opener. It was a 5 bed maison be maitre formerly owned by a Dr and his family but not lived in for 15 years. As well as the furniture we knew about we did manage to find one or two hidden treasures in the loft. Mostly what we found though was thick dust, cobwebs and over 40 years of medical journals! The French just don't throw anything away - ever!!
The village fairs are nearly over now so it's back to our regular winter antiques fair and auctions on our continuous hunt for interesting, useful and beautiful things.
