Paul and Myself - on the canals, where we feel most at home...
|
Hello! Viki and Paul here, the founders of The Krafty Lady! Early in 2006 we bought our first house together, and, at the same time, realised that whilst all these years we had been working for somebody else (and, quite often covering for their mistakes!), we could quite easily set up a business of our own, with higher values and better customer service.
February 2008 saw the launch of our new online store - see the links below to check it out!
We've always been hands-on people, who one day dream of a self-sufficient peaceful lifestyle in the country, with a canal boat moored at the bottom of our garden! So we have decided to put our skills to good use and create things for our eBay store and for others to enjoy.
Paul is an excellent craftsman and has recently been spending hours in his workshop perfecting his skills and coming up with new and creative ideas to do with wood. He uses mostly reclaimed timber - saving every scrap for future use! He is also practising the art of fender-making for canal boats, and decorative rope work, of which he has recently done some beautiful tiller decorations. One day he also hopes to be able to work with metal and have his own forge!
I paint traditional Roses and Castles (folk art from narrowboats). Although I am far from being a master painter as it takes years of practise, I feel it is really important to keep the old crafts and traditions going for future generations. I also make my own cards for all occassions, and have recently taken up knitting! I think it's an excellent skill to learn, and to some extent helps keep my fingers nimble for jewellery making - another hobby which I enjoy.
