Postcards and me......... I have always had an avid interest in history and collecting postcards was one of my very first ventures into the collecting world when just a teenager. One hundred years ago collecting postcards was a widespread and popular pursuit. Postcards were collected by all walks of people, young and old, men and women, and it was commonplace and indeed fashionable among the middle classes to have an album of these mementoes. Many a card bore the message 'here is another one for your collection' or 'I was very pleased with the last card you sent me as I did not have it'. Postcard collecting was the hobby everyone could afford and enjoy. Today these postcards offer a window into the social history of the time and to what changes have taken place in local areas.
