Hello, I am a-wonder-whizz, my eBay identity comes from the fact that I whizz about in an electric wheelchair as I was badly injured in a car crash, and can no longer walk.
I am a mum to 3 grown up young people, all of whom have flown the nest. My two lads both have autism, severe learning difficulties, and challenging behaviour.
I do small cross stitch pictures and cards, and I also make cards - some of which I sell on eBay, mostly to raise money for charity. I usually take part in the Monthly Daft Charity Coalition (mdcc) that runs for 7 days starting on the last Sunday of every month except December and is organised by members of the Round Table Chat board. You will sometimes see my hand made cards being auctioned as part of the mdcc.
Unfortunately personal circumstances do not allow me to give as much money as I would like, but I hope that by giving my time, and by donating materials etc. that I may be able to help in a small way.
A little about the charity that I mainly support - a charity that has been an invaluable source of help and support to us over the years. The Derbyshire Autism Services Group (D.A.S.G for short) registered charity no. 1105525 provides autism specific services within Derbyshire. A variety of services are offered - regular newsletters for members, advice and information,a telephone help line, parent support groups, befriending and sitting services, training for volunteers, help and advice for schools and for professionals, activities for families and for children and young people, social skills groups for young people, support for play schemes, and above all understanding and a listening ear.
The charity currently employs 6 staff members, half of whom work part time. Many of the staff work far in excess of the hours that they are paid for, and their commitment is one of the organisation's greatest assets. In addition a number of sessional workers are employed to support activities. The befriending and sitting services are provided by volunteers, to whom is owed a huge debt of gratitude - without their generosity and commitment these valuable services could not be provided. The charity is run by a management committee made up of a mixture of professionals working in the provision of services to people with autism and the parents of children or adults with autism. There is also a young person with Asperger syndrome who represents the views of service users. The organisation tries to develop and provide services in line with the wishes and needs of members, but sadly this is not always possible due to the restrictions of the nature of funding. The charity is increasingly becoming well known throughout statutory and voluntary agencies within Derbyshire as a provider of high quality autism specific services. Unfortunately the charity is very reliant on short-term grants, and since many of these are specifically for services to children and families, funds are desperately needed to provide services to adolescents and adults. Funding is always a struggle with services unfortunately having to fit with available funding. You can learn more about the charity, the work it does and the services it provides at www.autismsupport.co.uk
Your support is truly appreciated and it helps to make a real difference to the quality of life for people with autism within Derbyshire. Thank you

The account number has been hidden because the charity asked for this to give extra security.
