2010 FIFA World Cup™ Auction
Throughout the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ in South Africa, adidas will be giving you the chance to own a unique piece of football history.
Every extraordinary moment of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ will be captured as it happens in a ‘Live Quest’ artwork, which will be painted live by two brilliant up-and-coming African artists: Paul Junior Kasemwana and Espoir Kennedy.
There will be a public auction of each exclusive painting via ebay, which means YOU can own these exclusive, original artworks and help raise money for charity.
All proceeds raised will go to Nelson Mandela's 46664 Foundation; founded by Nelson Mandela and inspired by his Robben Island Prison Number, 46664 is the campaign vehicle of the charities established by Nelson Mandela designed to inspire individual and collective action towards a better world for everyone.
Kennedy has also painted 32 portraits featuring the star adidas players from each country. These will appear in the adidas media centre – Jo'bulani Central - and on a mobile scoreboard that will travel around Johannesburg throughout the tournament.
Together, these paintings will create and tell the story of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ in traditional African style.
Each player portrait will measure 130cm x210cm and each Live Quest painting will be 270cm x 210cm. These will be sold in lots, starting on Monday, June 14th and finishing on Monday, July 18th.
In addition to the player portraits and Live Quest artworks, there will also be a shirt signed by South African midfielder Steven Pienaar up for grabs.
Finally, the ball used for the final in Johannesburg's Soccer City Stadium on July 11– the Jo'bulani – will also be up for auction on the day of the match. So keep checking ebay and you could own your very own FIFA World Cup™ moment.
