D5600 which I had the pleasure of driving on the ELR

Firstly, my name is Richard and my ebay ID name has derived from my 1959 Austin A40 Farina and part of it's registration number (in case you were wondering). My first recollection of being interested in railways is when my dad used to take me to the library where I borrowed Thomas the Tank Engine books and was fascinated by the pictures.Soon after I got a Hornby train set for Christmas and played with it to destruction.I lived near the West Lancashire Line which ran between Preston and Southport and often cycled to see the crossing gates and the steam trains passing by with my friends until it closed in 1964 (yes I was very young!). In the seventies I became an ardent trainspotter and travelled countrywide with my friends using 'Runabout Rover' tickets, during the school holidays,visiting sheds and loco works.My favourite memories are from the Western Region where I saw many diesel hydraulics at work and sadly many scrapped. I have never lost interest in railways and regularly visit railway events, recently having the pleasure of driving a Class 31 on the East Lancashire Railway.There's so much more I could tell you but I haven't got time as i'm now busy trying to sell on ebay!
