Beatbullying Music Auction

This auction has been launched by Beatbullying to raise awareness and funds to help us work with more vulnerable young people affected by bullying across the UK. 

Bullying affects us all.  Practically everyone has had some experience of it.  It is widespread amongst young people; recent research shows that nearly seven in every ten children have experienced bullying.   Millions of children in the UK are going through the daily humiliation of being bullied: suffering vicious verbal abuse and physical attacks in playgrounds, corridors and classrooms; being excluded from group activities; having personal belongings stolen or damaged and lying awake at night frightened to go to school the next morning, often too terrified to even venture out of their homes.

Beatbullying successfully stops bullying by using music as a way to engage young people who might not talk about their behaviour in other settings. At its best Beatbullying reduces incidents of bullying and youth violence by up to 80%. What this means in practice is a reduction in truancy, aggressive behaviour and knife crime, and ultimately healthier communities and better lives for our young people.  BBMusic is an intensive songwriting, singing and music production workshop designed for children of all ages.  The workshop is designed to enthuse young people about the process of lyric writing, singing, music arranging and contemporary production whilst promoting a serious anti-bullying message.  Children that take part in these workshops are not just taught how to sing and write a song together, they are also encouraged to express their thoughts on bullying and its effects. By listening to one another, respecting their friends and working together as a team the children create something that has an immediate and lasting impact on their peers, the school and the community.

These exciting music items are available here on eBay and will be on auction from 6pm on Thursday, 6 August to 6pm on Sunday, 16 August 2009.  All funds raised from the auction will go to Beatbullying and will help to deliver BBMusic workshops in schools and youth groups across the UK.
