I was born in London in 1952. Our family lived in a small terraced house off Lavender Hill in Battersea, this no doubt sounds a picturesque address but it was hard to imagine as a child how the row upon row of identical blackened Victorian could ever have been fields of lavender, but they were. I might be a born and bred townie but I have a deep love of the countryside that was and always will be

After four years in art college graduated with a B.A. Ever since Ie been a freelance artist/designer luckily able to apply my talents to a wide variety of fields. For twenty three years I lived in Ireland, open views space the peace, back to country lanes; like opening the door of a dark room to feel sunlight and fresh air for the first time. Perhaps it's the influence of Ireland that keeps my work and interests so varied, after all it is said jokingly that the time difference is something like 50years! Not true maybe but there's not quite the same pressure of fashion.

I've never really become a specialist, I paint, I draw, I model. To some extent I've married originality with the practicality of design. The care and skill of craft and the romantic ideas. My work and ideals perhaps fit better with William Morris than with let's say the Saatchis. I make my floral brooches "Florials" as a reminder of my love of the countryside. My figurines are my people, after years as a master maker for Irish Dresden, are becoming; well they just are becoming! I'm exploring a number of ideas with them, some of which most often unsaid.
Ceramics and collectibles, where do they come from. Well, over the years I built up a strong knowldge of the ceramic industry, years ago I ran a stall in Greenwich market and poking around among the crafted products from years ago, the odd, the strange and the beautiful, I just love it!
