I love to create, and have been interested in arts and crafts since I was a small child. I have been sculpting in polymer clay since 2003. Before that I made miniature teddies and 1/12th scale dolls house items, including dolls.
I took a course in 1982 to learn how to make ceramic dolls. I loved this it was great we learned how the old antique dolls were made using traditional moulds. It was quite a messy business using porcelain slip and cleaning up the "greenware".
I wanted to make my own small figures without the use of moulds, so I have been practising and practising, I just love it, each little creation takes on a character of its own. They take many hours to complete I am particular about detail and painting etc. My porcelain doll making days certainly gave me a good grounding. But I love to sculpt my own personal pieces now.
I have been recently accepted into the Professional Doll Making Art Guild. Which I am thrilled to bits about. I have had an appraisal undertaken of my work and will publish the results on our website (when it is finished)!! However I can say that my pieces scored mainly 5's which is the highest score to have!! WOW I am so pleased it is such an honour for me to have professionals look at my work.
I live in Kent now known as the Fairy Garden of England by my friends and family!!!
If you wish to ask me any questions about my little creations do not hesitate to get in touch. I will be pleased to answer any questions.
My daughter, Rachel makes the one of a kind teddy bears. She studied at art college and has always been very creative. Her creations are unique, each one has a character of its own!! Each bear is made from the finest mohair or high quality plush fabric. They are filled with either kapok, fibre fill with glass beads, plastic pellets or steel shot for a wonderfully weighty feel. All are fully cotter pin jointed, and have a unique nose!! They come with swing tag and signed photographed certificate of authentication. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have regarding any item.
Our Web site is now up and running www.cherishedlittleones.co.uk
