Business and Network
With the goal of enhancing the PC experience for its customers, Creative develops and markets a wide array of solutions that complement the diverse needs of its end-users. This includes offering a variety of products that appeal to the senses of sight and sound, as well as the need for effective PC to PC communication, including the Internet. This focus, combined with an extensive channel strategy and strong retail presence, has enabled Creative to remain at the forefront of the industry. More than 40,000 retail outlets worldwide currently carry the company's products, including the Blasterfamily of graphics and audio cards, as well as Creative's multimedia upgrade kits, speakers, video communications products, PC-DVD solutions and Internet applications.
To date, more than 70 percent of all PC audio systems have been built on Creative's Sound Blastertechnology, making Creative responsible for the majority of the PC-generated sound worldwide. As the industry standard in PC audio, Sound Blaster compatibility is required for most PC sound systems on the market. This standard ensures compatibility, easy installation, and the support for the widest variety of titles. With other PCI bus solutions this standard is compromised.
With the Sound Blaster PCI standard, Creative has produced a solution that utilizes a combination of hardware and software for near-perfect compatibility with existing DOS and Windows titles. The Sound Blaster PCI standard represents Creative's on-going commitment to provide the broadest compatibility for its hardware platforms across the many software solutions available in the industry. Creative provides a complete lineup of audio solutions that support the Sound Blaster PCI audio standard, ranging from the cre de la cre Sound Blaster Live! to the most affordable VIBRA 128.
Creative's new audio standard, EAX takes a systems approach to delivering powerful innovative audio technologies and the definitive audio experience - from the processor and modeling algorithms, to the speaker systems and the API for developers - Creative provides a complete experience with EAXenabled systems. Based on the new Sound Blaster Live! family of audio accelerators, EAX delivers a completely new way to experience games, music and entertainment on the desktop. EAX API, a powerful, easy-to-use sound design tool, allows developers to truly explore the art of creating compelling, immersive audio environments in games, Internet audio applications and interactive entertainment titles.
With its success and expertise in PC audio, Creative has expanded into other sectors of the multimedia industry, including graphics, PC-DVD, portable digital audio players, computer telephony integration (CTI), communications and videoconferencing. In doing so, Creative has partnered with some of the industry's top technology companies and developers worldwide.
Creative's Network
Creative's corporate headquarters and primary manufacturing are based in Singapore, with sales, distribution and research and development being carried out through an extensive, global network of subsidiaries located in North America, Europe, Asia and Africa. Today, Creative has expanded its operations that include wholly owned subsidiaries and joint ventures in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Australia, South Korea and South Africa. These centers and sales offices enable Creative Technology to provide effective global support to its broad-based multi-tiered channel distribution network of 230 key distributors in more than 80 countries.
Creative currently employs more than 4,000 people worldwide. To prepare the company for the next millennium, Creative fortified its R&D strength and leadership with acquisitions of U.S-based companies: Ensoniq, E-muSystems, Cambridge SoundWorks, Ectiva Inc. (formerly the NetMedia group from OPTi) ShareVisionTechnology, Digicom Systems and Silicon Engineering Inc. Creative also forged numerous synergistic alliances and licensing and OEM (original equipment manufacturer) partnerships with such companies as Acer America Corporation, Dell Computer, Digital Equipment Corporation, Gateway 2000, Microsoft, Intel, Micron, NEC - among others - to further advance the power of multimedia on the PC.
Creative Labs (Europe)
Creative Labs Europe was established in November 1993 to capture a bigger share of the growing potential of the European market. The European network consists of numerous Local Sales Offices (LSOs) strategically located throughout Europe; and the European Operations and Technical Center (EOTC) in Ireland. While the LSOs provide localized sales and marketing support, the EOTC acts as the central hub to Creative's fast growing European business, providing efficient product supply and customer support to complement the activities of the LSOs.
