Welcome to our about me page... Please take time to watch our restoration video link below. It shows just one of our lovely pieces going through some of the processes of a typical antique restoration in our workshop

Please appreciate that we are not usual antique dealers who just simply mark up items and sell for large profits. We pride ourselves in the finished quality of our stock. Each piece has been restored in an manner to enhance its original features and increase the items value and lifespan. The finished pieces are of a higher quality and our prices are considerably cheaper than what you would expect to pay on the high street.



Dartington Antiques - Our aim is to provide beautiful hand made antique furniture cheaper than that of a traditional dealer. We are able achieve this as overheads are much less than a traditional dealer and are not reliant on large profit margins to sustain an already established business.



We are in effect creating a very ecologically sound service. At present there are thousands of tonnes of furniture being imported into this country from China each year, being sold in large warehouses around the country at such a low cost that a local craftsmen would not even be able to by the raw materials to make such an item.

The antiques we are listing on ebay are presented to you with the most utmost and professional care. We are not like many other dealers you will see on ebay. We already have a very, very good, reputation as an established business which has taken many years to achieve. This is not by luck or good fortune but by constantly exceeding our customers expectations.


Simon Gilboy, The Director of Gilboy’s and now proprietor of Dartington Antiques, served his indentured 4 year traditional apprenticeship at Staverton Joinery – then owned by the famous Dartington Trust Estate. Since 1987 Simon has been polishing and restoring furniture for an ever increasing client base. Gilboy’s was established during 1993 after returning from 3 years of further study at college. To date there is a team of highly skilled craftsmen providing the essential knowledge and skill base for the care and conservation of furniture.



We have been fortunate to have been asked to carry out work for the Houses of Parliament – Holland & Holland – The Duke of Somerset – Kuwait University – Harrods. Dartington Antiques was brought about from our loyal customers requesting us to source quality antique furniture and when necessary carry out sympathetic restoration for them. We are now lucky enough to be able to pass this ecologically sound service on to a wider audience. We pride ourselves on our reputation.

Collections from our Showroom

We will warmly welcome anyone wishing to collect or view the furniture in our workshop showroom but may we request that you call us a few days prior, just in case it is in our store or located in our high street shop. We will happily assist with placing furniture into your chosen chariot but please make sure it will fit easily and do please bring adequate blankets for wrapping.
