Great Ormond Street Hospital, founded in 1852, is an international centre of
excellence in child healthcare and one of the leading children’s hospitals in
the world. Disney has been working closely with the hospital since 1939
when Walt Disney bought the rights from the hospital to make a Peter Pan
animated story.
Now The Walt Disney Company Ltd is working with Great Ormond Street
Hospital Children’s Charity to raise £10million towards the redevelopment
of Great Ormond Street Hospital. Disney will help fund a new restaurant,
café and Disney Interactive Zone. The Interactive Zone will be brought to
life by Disney’s ‘imagineers’ and the hospital design teams to result in a
welcoming meeting area that will be used by patients, families, visitors
and staff.
In the UK, the hospital has the broadest range of dedicated children’s
healthcare specialists under one roof and is the largest paediatric centre
for heart problems, brain surgery, cancer services, renal transplantation,
intensive care, cranio-facial reconstruction, gene therapy and valve
replacement. Many of the children have unique, complex and
life-
threatening
illnesses and are unable to receive the type of specialist
treatment they need
in any other UK hospital.
In support of this appeal, Disney has asked celebrities to sprinkle a
little fairy dust and customise a pair of
fairy wings.
If you buy a pair of fairy wings, customised by one of the following celebrities, you’ll be directly helping to reach this £10 million target as all monies raised will be donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity:
Please Note:
The auction will close at 8am on the 18th September 2008
Fairy wings will be sent out to the winning bidder by 2nd October 2008
You must be at least 18 years of age to place a bid on eBay
Fairy wings will not be sent outside of the UK
Please note that these fairy wings are a decorative item, not a toy
