Welcome to Sara’s Texture Crafts... pull up a chair with your hot cup of tea and brace yourself for a world of fibre addiction!
Sara is a Textile Designer and Fibre Artist, based in London.
Sara started designing for fashion and textiles as a child by making clothes for her dolls and later grew into customising her own clothes and making jewellery to sell to friends, family and neighbours. Sara’s mother always encouraged her to learn new crafts and techniques and was the one who taught her the most important lessons, like how to sew, knit and do needlework. She was also very supportive of Sara’s educational choices and opting for art and textiles Sara trained to become a Designer. Graduating from the London College of Fashion in 2000 and Sara got her first job, starting the very next week and has since then worked for a number of British designers.
As a Designer Sara has always been taught to take inspiration from a number of sources; from museums and art, to her peers and the world around her. But through all of this the one thing that has always inspired Sara the most is texture, ‘I find anything that is layered or 3-D in effect a great source of inspiration and I enjoy recreating texture by combining a number of media.’
In June 2006 Sara became a freelance Fashion and Textile Designer, moving from company to company working on different projects. She enjoyed her new found freedom in design after leaving a full time post and found that this suited her restless creativity much more. This gave birth to the Textile Artist in her. So in late 2006 she decided to turn her crafty passions into a business and set about creating Sara’s Texture Crafts to work alongside her freelance design jobs. The business was two fold to start with; firstly supplying craft kits and equipment and secondly creating and selling hand crafted, unique jewellery, bags and gifts, both on-line.
Since then the business has grown allow Sara to concentrate on her passion for fibre based arts and sharing her work with the craft community, ‘Learning new techniques is very important and so it is only natural for me to seek to share my work with like-minded artists and beginners. After all by sharing our learning we gain confidence and inspiration!’
eBay has been home to Sara’s Flagship Craft Supply Store since January 2007 and already has supplies a loyal customer base, worldwide.
Sara’s Texture Crafts brings you the crafts and techniques that inspire Sara the most. For example free-machine embroidery can be great on its own, but why not mix it with another discipline like; felting, embroidery or weaving? Sara approaches all crafts with the same way – why not mix it up a bit?
Opening Hours: Monday to Friday 9-5pm, although you may well find Sara logged in at other times too!
