My Signs & Their Journey!
Wood ~ the smell, the feel, the colours, the patterns ~ I just love everything about it ~ even the splinters!
I combine my great passion for wood with 2 other great passions of mine - WORDS and ART! We all hold equally the power to change people's lives with just a few words so to be given the opportunity to combine WOOD, WORDS and ART is a Gift from Heaven ~ I am truly privileged and indeed Blessed to create each and every piece!
I cut and plane each piece and the corners and edges are gently rounded or routered. Layers of hand mixed paints, wax and hand sanding are applied over a few days and my letterwork is always done using professional artist quality Acrylic, Flow Improver and Good Brushes! Absolutely NO STENCIL FONT etc. This is a lengthy but essential process (2 to 6 hours per piece!!!) as my work is intended to LIVE for a very very long time indeed! Each piece is matt sealed and a hanger attached so it's all ready to hang as soon as you receive it!

My Shabby Chic Style
My pieces are intentionally shabby chic, vintage style - they are supposed to look as if they have been with us for some considerable time whilst maintaining a superb quality finish and design that gives my pieces the look that says they have been very much loved!
This is a beautiful gentle style, however, if it is not your style, then please do not bid nor buy as I would not want you to be disappointed.
Each piece is totally unique ~ wood grain, knots, shabbiness etc will vary and will all add to each piece's gentleness and totally unique nature, whilst always maintaining a wonderful quality design. I always display a number of detailed photographs with each piece offered for sale to enable you to see the exact detail. You are always very welcome to contact me for more information on any piece listed.
A Little Bit About Me!
I suppose an "About Me" has to have a little information about "ME"! ~ So I'll try not to bore you too much and make it as short as I possibly can!
I'm first and foremost a "Christian" and then what follows is because of my faith... a "Welsh Valleys Woman", who like so many of us, works hard and plays gently. I have 3 children (My Blessings) a beautiful dog called Boris and as well as being a self employed artist I also work in Cancer Care for an amazing Charity called "Tenovus" both within a hospital setting and in the community ~ something I am immensely proud and privileged to do. I am a self taught artist and daily painter and occasionally sell some of my other art work here on ebay! My other great passions are My FAITH, FAMILY, FRIENDS, MUSIC, SCULPTURE, LITERACY PROJECTS and I'm going to be very honest here ~ TRASHY TELEVISION ~ X factor's back and I just love it! We all need some balance in our lives!!! OK that's enough about me! SIGN PAINTING TIPS: Start small (perhaps one or two larger words on a small piece and if you're just starting out then use student quality paint for practicing and a good splash of flow improver (always essential in warmer weather when acrylic dries very quickly!!!) BUT always use the best calligraphy brushes you can afford. "French Curves" in selection of sizes are a great help to beginners and "Flexicurves" are also handy for larger works! All can be found on ebay or good art shops.The most important thing is to enjoy it and practice practice practice.
