Fantastic facts:
Go wild – We care for over 76,000 hectares of Scotland’s countryside - 7 National Nature Reserves, 27 European Natura-2000 sites, 45 Sites of Scientific Interest and many Scheduled Ancient Monuments.
Volunteers – every year an amazing 3000 volunteers assist the Trust with events, specialist advice and essential conservation projects. We couldn’t do it with them!
Plant fanatics – our gardens are internationally renowned for their plant collections!
We love little houses – We protect Scotland’s finest vernacular architecture through the Little Houses Improvement Scheme. This scheme acquires neglected buildings, repairs them, then sells them on promoting the renewal and regeneration of property.
Buses for bairns - we provide subsidised coach travel for schools across Scotland so that all children have the opportunity to learn about Scotland’s rich and beautiful heritage.
Trusted air connection - with a population of around 70, the remote Fair Isle is 25 miles from mainland Shetland, let alone mainland Scotland! Its airfield is an absolutely vital link for everyone on the island – and it's cared for by the Trust.
Members around the world – we have more than 310,000 members of the National Trust for Scotland and they come from near and far – including 100 in New Zealand!
