Syd Likes Wearing (and Selling): Real corsets, decorative cinchers, historically-inspired posh frocks, odd hats and madcaps, authentic Gothic and Lolita clothing, Lolita-inspired and 'should've grown out of it' clothing, general oddwear, decadent goth stuff, languid odalisque dresses, tatteredy seethru mesh, vintage undies, Victorian type jackets, combat trews, extravagant coats, chokers, silly cosplay, old tat, fripperies, costume jewellery, chain maille, crochet, kimono, 1920s slatternry.

Syd Likes Doing: Sewing, pattern drafting, designing, dressing up, going out all-dressed-up, painting, drawing, caricatures, making up pseudonyms, creating fictional characters, performing, improv. comedy, making a scene, 'theatrical' make-up, walking about, mooching, dubious research, illustration, watching/collecting Asian extreme films, over-dressing for the occasion, being in the company of guinea pigs, receiving things in the post, riding on the back of motorcycles, dancing like a fool, cooking, HTML and CSS.

Syd Doesn't Care For: Being ill, days when the post doesn't come, things that are oozy and come in bottles, high street fashion, minor injuries, annoying drunks, snobbery, oneupmanship, smalltown-smallminds.

Best Colour: Green. Tho' I like most colours to some degree.

Make Syd Laugh? It's easy! Silly place-names ('Coughton Hackett'), the Goons, MST3000, funny voices, Tom Lehrer, geese, really stupid jokes, guinea pigs, pre-1940s etiquette/lifestyle guides.

Listening To: 20s blues, miserable jazz/torch song, fairly old ska, 60s acid rock, daft anime music, satirical songs, Brecht-style cabaret old and new, Queen Adreena, Rachel Stamp, Tiger Lillies, Led Zep, Mediaeval Baebes, Queen, and so on too numerous to mention.

Miscellaneous Things That Are Nice: Good food, silliness, unshockable friends, pretty colours, herb gardens, ruins, unpresumptive travel, regional dialects, the various cuisines of the world, scary art, sweets, anatomica, w3 standards.

I like cephalopods also.

Syd's Works

Things I sell here are probably designed/drafted/sewn by me. I've been sewing since I was 5, and sewing properly (i.e. for serious) for over 10 years. I have an overlocker, 2 robust sewing machines, and a gorgeous hand-operated vintage Singer which I use for quiet sewing in the night.
Hence, anything you buy will be sturdily-constructed and professionally made.
I'm really tough on my clothes personally- I wear them in all sorts of places I really shouldn't... and everything I make stands up to repeated hard wear and washing.
Our house is smokeless. Guinea pigs are not allowed to wander amongst things for sale, but they do roam the house- if you have a very severe allergy, please get in touch and I'll give stuff an extra thorough wash.
I used to be on eBay quite a lot, but dropped my last account after it was adversely affected by manky illness. I'm better now, so this one will remain pristine.
I have two sites for various dressing-up goodies: StockingShock, and the eponymous Peacockalorum. If you like here, you'll most prob'ly like there too.

I live with four guinea pigs and this creature:

...who is actually a statistician. He's not to everyone's taste, but we get along nicely.

I'm starting on collecting all sorts of old tat and vintage ephemera so that, when I'm 90, a big pile of it will fall over and squash me.

I'm not a tidy person, but I promise I won't lose anything you buy.
