Hello and Welcome to our About Me page!
We get a lot of questions about our guitars and luthier guitars so we’ve decided to give a brief background about our products and a few notes about the two of us.
We sell only items we would be proud to own. Our guitars have gone through one of the largest refurbishing centers in the US before being sold to us. Check on eBay and you will see lots of other sellers who also offer these guitars.
Our guitars are in very good condition and play wonderfully. They’ve been tested and retested before being sold to us. We look them over carefully and if there are any visible defects or flaws we document them in the description and photo from as many angles as we can. Often, there are no discernable blemishes.
To prevent false warranty claims each guitar is stamped with either Used or 2nd on the back of the headstock. The stamp is an imprint stamp and is not removable. It is stamped on the back of the headstock and is not visible on the front of the guitar. Please see the photo below for an example. The serial numbers are also partially removed by the manufacturer for the same reason.
Once in awhile we come across a great local deal and have guitars that did not go through the refurbishing center. We note that in our listing so that you know where the guitar came from.
Our luthier guitars are the guitars that could not pass the final inspections anywhere. They come to us as we list them…broken! These guitars are ideal for the luthier or hobbyist who enjoys reclaiming guitars.
All of our hardware, necks, bodies, and electronics come from these guitars. The necks are stamped Used or 2nd, just as the regular guitars are. We stand behind everything we sell and list any flaws we can visibly see to the best of our ability. Our supplier leaves general notes on some of the guitars indicating what the flaws or issues are. We pass that along in the listing with any other details we can detect.
We are not luthiers. We are not experts and have never claimed to be. We do our very best and greatly appreciate the advice all of you are kind enough to offer us.
As for the knowledge we do have: Louie has been a drummer for many, many years and has played in numerous bands. While his first love is all things Metal, he does admit to enjoying BB King when I “force” him to listen.
Louie still plays the second set he ever owned, his 1979 Ludwig Vistalite set. It has grown and grown over the years, to the point where he has his own drum room in the basement. He has a glue trap mind for all the little details regarding drums and knows quite a bit about them. With his association with a whole bunch of musicians comes his knowledge of other instruments. We are also blessed with some musical children between us. His oldest son is the drummer for a touring metal act and my middle son is the guitarist for a local Pittsburgh metal act.
We started our eBay adventure when Louie decided to add on to the Vistalite set. He bought another set, took what he wanted and we sold the rest on eBay. When we saw how much we enjoyed it we kept selling anything from estate sale finds to more and more drums, adding the guitars as we grew. We love selling on eBay and were fortunate enough to be able to “retire” from our jobs. I became a full time eBayer in June of 2006 with Louie following me in February of 2007.
Between us we have seven children who are scattered all over from Boston down to Texas and out to Arizona. We have just two kids left at home now. We moved back to my hometown of Cleveland in 2007, having lived in Pittsburgh for many years. Yes, we have a “mixed marriage” with Louie rooting for the Steelers while I go for my beloved Browns. Sundays are never boring here!
Louie spent many years working in the optical field, both in management and manufacturing while I worked nights as the bar manager for a local family bar/restaurant. To be able to work for ourselves, in our home, is a real blessing and we are truly grateful for the opportunities we’ve had and the people we’ve “met” through eBay.
Thanks for reading!
