The best description of me is a sixties chick, ex-pat Canadian born in Vancouver, who's destiny was to live in a kibbutz on the Golan Heights near the Syrian border. Actually, it's about the quietest place in the country. Lots of fresh air and clean living. Ebay has made me into a defacto ambassador for my country. I always contend that there are two sides to every story.
I'm a semi-retired grand mom ('Savta' in Hebrew - hence the Ebay handle) spending part of the week sewing and baking for folks in the area. I have now replenished most the Fisher Price toys that I once had for my own daughters and benevolently gave away. Now the girls are Moms and remember the great toys they grew up with. Also, these toys last longer. My only granddaughter loves Polly Pockets and spends countless hours with this extended family.
For myself, I've started collecting E Radford pottery. These pieces are found all around the globe, From Americas to Australia. My latest passion is vintage and antique bed linens and tray cloths. My granddaughter loves coming over to my home now to make MY bed. She says it like something out of nnie I am amazed at the amounts of linen people find in attics, trunks, bureau drawers, etc. Their grandmothers or great grandmothers must have received large amounts of linen, wrapped them and just put them away. This is an art that is just not done today. Who has the time to crochet, ladder, cut, and embroider white linens? But I think that this lost art us being recognized now and people appreciate the beauty of another era.
I have found people to be very friendly and honest, which make for interesting exchanges of stories and lifestyles.
The only thing I have trouble understanding is why more people hesitate to send their items abroad. It demands the same wrapping/packing to send something from Miami to Seattle as to send to Israel. Still have to make the trip to the Post Office.
