A CHRISTMAS PURCHASE PLEA

Due to the increase in volume of post and the Royal Mail strikes (click here for more information) please allow sufficient time to receive your items in the run up to Christmas.

We do operate a refund or replacement policy on lost postal items but not until the Royal Mail's recommended waiting period has passed.

  • For post within the UK - Please wait 15 working days (from the due date of delivery) as Royal Mail would not consider an item as lost until 15 working days have elapsed.

  • For International post - Please wait 25 days for loss of an international item. This is to allow time for an item to be delivered overseas - it may have been held at a local delivery office in the destination country and be waiting for collection or redelivery if no one was at home to accept the item when delivery was initially attempted. International mail may also be delayed by customs.

Once these waiting periods have elapsed we will offer you a full refund or a replacement if we still hold stock of the item.

Who or what is Smoo?

Over the years we have been asked this question many times…

The word ‘Smoo’ derives from our nicknames Smudgie and Moo.  We felt it was cryptic enough to pique people’s interest and it has gone from the pet name of our car to the identity of our companies.

Shop Smoo is our main online auction business.  We also run our own company which provides copywriting for websites, articles, guides, ebooks, product reviews, publishes our own ebooks as well as articles via.

The aim of all our ventures is to not only offer top-quality items at reasonable prices but also top-class customer service, whether that is a question regarding postage or a query about non delivery of items.  All customers are treated the same - prompt, polite and courteous.  We think treating others as we would wish to be treated is just as important as getting our prices right, and we feel this is reflected in the feedback we have earned. 

We always keep our customers informed of the buying process via email.  On average you can expect at least three emails from us.  The first will be to say thank you for buying from us and outline our payment methods (automatically sent by eBay).  The second will be a thank you email once we receive payment; if payment is via cheque (either personal or PayPal eCheque) we will also estimate a posting date based on the cheque clearing date.  The third and final email will be to let you know your item or items have been despatched and that we have left feedback.

Unlike many sellers we don’t believe in holding you to ransom with your feedback by not leaving it until you do so first.  Once we dispatch your goods we leave feedback and then we hope once your items have been received you will do the same for us.

We do ask that if you have any problems with your purchase to contact us at your earliest convenience so we can come to a satisfactory conclusion before leaving feedback as problems do arise from time to time.

Our other pet peeve is over inflated postage.  Our promise to all of our customers is that we will never overcharge on postage.  With most items we take the actual postage cost (from the Royal Mail website) and add just 50p on top to cover our packing, printing and posting costs.  The only time we will add more is if the item is fragile or breakable, when we will add a pound to cover the additional protective packing.  We always combine postage on multiple items and again just add the additional packing amounts to the total price.  Any overpayments are always refunded.
