Welcome to the TTB 'About Us' page on e-bay, we hope you can find what information you want to know about us, our organisation, what we are doing now and our aims for the future
Who are we? Quite simple, we are two young women with a great team behind us on a mission to raise awareness of various mental illnesses including eating disorders, depression and self injury. The 'Tattered, Torn & Broken' forum was first launched on February 18th 2005, a project started by Lina. Back then it was just a small un-heard of forum with a few members, now though it has grown and, we hope, will keep continuing too!
What are the TTB online communities? As mentioned above we have the 'Tattered, Torn & Broken' forum at the moment. This is admined by it's founder, Lina and two close friends Lou and Donna. It offers a supportive place to go, to talk about problems, voice concerns on a range of different topics and to make lasting friendships.
We try to focus on raising awareness for each cause and promote the positives of the future. Within the forum we hope to run a number of different projects and hopefully get various ones set up in time for SIAD (Self injury awareness day) on March 1st.
What's the deal with the awareness items then? The awareness items you will find here on e-bay are to primarily raise and spread Eating Disorder & Self Injury awareness further. If we can reach just one more person in the world from doing this then we consider it a job well done. However if we can reach out to more people out there, in all parts of the globe then that's fantastic.
F.A.Q's Here are a few of the frequently asked questions we get asked:
"Are you professionals who run TTB?" In short no, we are not. We cannot afford the funding for this kind of thing and we find it is probably best this way too. Being just 'ordinary' people lets us all connect on the same, equal level for one thing. Secondly, whilst TTB is there for support we are not qualified in therapy or counselling ~ we will always advise people to see their GP or other medical professional.
"Is it not just a bunch of like-minded people then? What's the point?" If you put it that way then yes, we are a bunch of 'like minded people'. The point is this, we all support each other on the forum, we all offer each other help and guidence through both good and difficult times. We are not all always 'depressed', we have laughs together, share happy memories and hope for the future. Granted, it is not always everyones cup of tea and if it's not that's fine. If you are interested though then come and see it for yourself!
"Who's idea was it and who makes all the awareness items you sell?" For quite a few years now people from different websites have been making awareness items. We decided that we too would join in and help spread awareness further.
The first product we made were the red eating disorder and orange self injury frosted glass beaded bracelets. Since then we have made silicone wristbands, bumper stickers and now some new brighter coloured frosted beaded bracelets for both causes. are all individually handmade by Lina & Lou.
There will be many more awareness items to come =)
"Where does all the money go from the items you sell?" Some people believe it goes straight into our back pockets. This is certainly not true!! All the money we raise goes into a specially set up TTB fund and is used to:
1) Purchasing more beads/elastic for awareness bracelets 2) Having more awareness wristbands manufactured 3) The running and maintaining the TTB forum (making it add free and pleasenter all round) 4) Hosting and maintaining the TTB website (which is still in the process of being completed) 5) The rest is saved for future projects
