collectable figurines

a figurine collector, you may be interested in what exactly inspires me as I make of each of my English bone china figurines.

You may also be interested in the fact I have chosen to no longer work with companies who cannot guarantee fine English bone china production for my figurines.

Read here about how together with fellow sculptor, John Bromley, I have set up a new company based upon preserving traditional Stoke-on-Trent fine bone china skills.

For those collectors who haven't come across it yet, I have an extensive website which catalogues all my influences & loves.

For example, you may or may not know I am keen on the history of vintage and antique fine china, particularly the English makers...

However, I also have a fascination for the untold skills of the 18th Century German sculptors at the Ludwigsburg factory - famous for their ability to sculpt and reproduce tiny details such as fingernails on small children only fractions of millimeters in size.

To sum up my influences:-

I love the romantic vision of beautiful ladies in their prime..... who each have a story to tell! Especially those inspired by my beautiful life model and partner Debra.

The ancient myths & legends - stories which have never gone away touch my imagination. Important social gatherings where there is always an unexpected frisson of expectation, just beneath the surface, is also a favourite muse.

For me the importance lies in the intrigue behind the glamour. True collectors always have a vivid take on this aspect of the work.

A Basia Zaraycka Creation collectible figurines
I like to work with modern leading fashion designers such as Basia Zaraycka who is my design partner of choice and a genius with fabric, flowers and gowns, whose work frequently graces the covers of Vogue and Elle.

Basia's shop in Sloane Square, London is a treasure trove of gorgeous objets d'art and fabrics (a must for any visits to London).

Luckily for me, Basia loves her figurines and has them displayed in her gowns department.

I very much appreciate as my colleague John Bromley who expresses the pinnacle of the bone china sculptors' art and we, as artists, should all do well to walk in his footsteps.

The very best regards to you all
