Bricks and Bread Sustainable Living Centre - Aldershot
The centre where people & businesses can find sustainable opportunities. This is a community interest company which acts as a central venue for experts to meet and share their knowledge, so people can easily access realistic advice and efficient, cost effective products that enable them to live, work and build sustainably.
“A collaborative, honest and fair sustainable business opportunity with a worthwhile set of objectives and a clear strategy”
The business was formed by a local businesswoman who changed her life many years ago to discover how to live, work and build sustainably. As she felt compelled to find a more rewarding and less environmentally damaging way to run a business and life her life. As a specialist in building eco homes in the South East region she has never found it easy to source a reliable supply of reasonably priced materials, good advice, skilled labour or local businesses with ethical motives for running a green business. These issues are significant problems for people with less experience to overcome and find sustainable solutions.
It is now vitally important that we do not delay taking action to reduce the impact of our consumption and industrial activities to take a more sustainable approach to living our lives and running our businesses. People and businesses need to face economic, environmental and social issues to effectively reduce greenhouse gas emissions in order to tackle climate change issues that are already starting to affect us and our world.
The Bricks and Bread Sustainable Living Centre has been created to address the issues that our founder and her colleagues have faced for many years in running their sustainable businesses. The team of specialists and credible businesses who meet at the centre are growing into a significant body of experts who are using their experience to select the right products to sell and distribute from the centre.
They are also sharing their knowledge to offer business opportunities, skills training, independent advice and networking events at the centre for everyone in our local area to access so that they may become less dependent on fossil fuels, reduce waste and excessive use of resources.
Profits and investment money raised by the centre will be used to purchase local property to renovate to Passive house standards. These buildings will provide work experience, on site training of sustainable building techniques and materials, to then become show homes and low cost rental properties for our staff and local people.
