I started collecting kimonos some time ago. I got somewhat carried away and the quantity I owned got very out of hand, filling an entire room with large boxes of them, with a hefty overspill of boxes in a second room too. I decided to sell most of them, reclaiming some space, recouping some of the money I spent on them and allowing me to still buy another one now and then.
I am a private seller, doing this in my free time. Selling a few items on eBay enables me to add a link here to my own website, where you will find over 1000 items, such as women’s, men’s, children’s and geisha’s kimonos, haori kimono jackets, obi, tabi, geta, Japanese art, textiles, Buddhist & Shinto items etc. You can visit my website at www.wafuku.co.uk

On my website I also have kimono information pages, with lots of information about Japanese garments and how they are worn. You will also find a glossary of Japanese terms there.
Almost all my items are vintage ones because that is what I prefer. The fabrics are exceptional, as is the quality, and they have been owned by Japanese people, not made to be marketed to the west or to tourists, it makes them seem more genuine and more Japanese to me. It also makes them affordable, as even the plainest, brand new, pure silk, hand sewn kimono would cost thousands of pounds (£ UK GBP), so would be impossible for most of us to ever own.
I strive to offer genuine, vintage and antique Japanese items of prime quality, in wonderful condition, with clear and honest descriptions and plenty of photographs. If you seek authentic Japanese traditional garments of all kinds, you will find I have a large variety for both men and women and even some for children, check out my eBay listings and my www.wafuku.co.uk site.
When most people in Japan wore a traditional Japanese clothing daily, they each used to build up a sizeable collection over the years, all carefully stored. Now few Japanese are opting for traditional clothing and lifestyles, so they are parting with those collections. This does, however, make now a good time to get a vintage garment, while there are still many varied and beautiful kimono and such in Japan. On the other hand, it also means there are far less people now keeping or building collections of them, which, of course, also means the supply in Japan is not being maintained as before, so there won't always be the fabulous variation of high quality, vintage Japanese garments available that there currently is.
