JOHN'S BOOK COLLECTION
I have been collecting books for many years now. My problem is that I find it impossible to throw a book in the dustbin, or skip. There's some in-built block which prevents such behaviour! The result is that I have several thousand books lining the walls of my house, in many bookcases, and the house is now FULL. My wife is going to have to live in the garden if I get any more! It really saves on the heating bills though, with all this insulation. Now I've found Ebay, I'm hoping to get rid of some books, including some unusual and hard-to-find books, and I am so happy that they will find homes where someone will appreciate them.
THE BOOKS I'M SELLING
Thank you for browsing through my books. Feel free to ask me for more information on any particular item. Please read the descriptions of the books carefully. When describing the condition of the books, I try to follow the guidelines set out in the "Book + Magazine Collector Magazine" which sets out grades for the condition of books using words "fine", "very good", "good", etc. If the book shows a publication date for that edition, I will show it. If it is a first edition I will say so, but if I do not think it is, or if its definitely not, I will not say that it is a first edition. If the book has any significant faults, I will try to describe these. If it is ex-library, or has any writing in it, such as a previous owner's name, or a presentation inscription I will tell you in the description. I don't want someone buying a book as a present for someone, only to find that it is already inscribed "to Harry, to wish you Happy Birthday, From Fred."!!! If the presentation inscription is by the Author, or illustrator, or if its to or from a famous personality, I will describe the inscription in detail, possibly with photograph. In trying to give as full a description as possible in limited space, and time, I am trying to be fair with buyers. In return I hope bidders/buyers will be fair with me by good communication, and prompt payment. If payment is delayed for some reason please tell me about it and I will try to accomodate you. If you would like any further information on any item, please ask me. I'll try to get back to you as soon as I can, but please don't leave it until the last minute. Above all, enjoy browsing through my books. I do!

UK POSTAL CHANGES from 21 August 2006
Most people will be aware of the new pricing structure recently introduced by Royal Mail, in which size now determines the cost of postage. I normally wrap books well, using bubble-wrap and bubble envelopes to give plenty of protection to prevent damage to your books in transit. This may mean that postage costs can be higher on some items, because of the increased size. I will continue to wrap books well as a matter of course, because I know you would prefer to receive your books without being damaged in the post by skimpy wrapping.

Just a word about POSTAGE AND PACKING. I never intentionally make a profit from P+P like I notice some sellers do. I do use postal scales to weigh items, which are reasonably accurate, but occasionally I find the scales at the post office weigh different, and so I may slightly under or over charge on my estimates which include a contribution towards packaging materials. I occasionally check other sellers selling the same items, and find that I invariably charge less than them. If you think my P+P on a particular item looks high, it will be because it is a heavy book. Some books can weigh very heavy, especially those with high quality paper.
